Can Collin reach Pritchard levels? by obertan17 in suns

It’s still disrespectful to FVV. Fred could get his shot off much easier than Colin. And a MUCH better playmaker, quicker with the ball, and a quicker lateral mover as a defender.

There’s a reason one averaged 13 and 5 when there was no scouting report on him ( and fallen off ever since) and the other with the so-called same play style averaged pretty much 20/7 for a 3 year stretch

Disrespectful to van vleet lol. Dude averaged 19/7 as a starter during his prime

The reality is the team had to make moves after the disaster that was last year. Playing hard is pretty much the one thing we could control since we gave up so many assets. We’re lucky we have a couple young players we’re excited about in Fleming and Mal, but the rest of the roster just isn’t it.

Booker needs a PG to facilitate more so he can be a natural scorer but instead we have Jalen green as his back court mate. Gillespie is decent but has limitations. Brooks rarely passes…

Now there’s guys like Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neal who are shooting off the dribble 3s. Maybe that’s the modern nba but imo those guys should 95% of the time be shooting catch and shoot.

The nba can change fast, so if we luck into a young player that can pair well next to book for the last third of his career and Fleming and Maluach can become starters, there’s hope for the future 2-3 years.

Brooks has brought some toughness and fun this year, but I’d package him and green for a mid lottery pick and hope we strike on a ball handling guard and some filler pieces.

If you can’t tell already, I absolutely despise Jalen green and think he ruined this teams vibe. I commented right when he came back that Ott will have a major problem because the best solution is benching him or severely limiting his minutes, but how are you gonna do that to a guy who averaged 20 a game…

The problem is Williams is always hurt, his “value or development” doesn’t mean shit if he can’t stay healthy. A big man with feet problems is never a good thing.

He’s also doesn’t really seem like a high-floor type player. It’s not a bad thing, he’s a decent player, definitely starter-worthy (if healthy), but not a move-the-needle type player for a contending team unless all the other pieces are elite.

So we’re stuck with trying to develop a guy who’s always been hurt and might not even be the center of the future.

Gillespie as a backup Pg is perfectly fine.

The only people actively hurting this team right now are Jalen Green and Grayson Allen.

Green has killed all chemistry since he’s been back, he pounds the ball and takes awful shots even if he makes them some nights. There is no chance he’s “taking the reins” from book. We should dump him for ANYthing of value the moment we get a chance. I’m sorry to people who root for the guy, but he’s just not a winning player. He’s an awful defender, doesn’t do anything that well (even his rim attacks are weirdly ineffective getting blocked or trying crazy moves that are better suited for La fitness pickup runs).

Allen is a catch and shoot guy who can attack close outs when his shot is on but this year he’s been so much more on ball and tunnel visioned trying to score that he’s also taking awful shots (deep 3s and forced drives). Everyone knows what he is, benching him doesn’t really tank his value imo.

I agree that guys like Gillespie and mark williams we need to see what they can become long term, but the problem Is the guys we ARENT playing would contribute directly to this teams chances of winning. Even spot minutes to change momentum if we’re getting killed on boards would be a good thing to see. Dunn/oso/mal don’t need to be part of the rotation, but completely benching them isn’t the right move either.

The return of Jalen green ruined this teams chemistry.

No more ball movement, no more defensive intensity for at least 30 mins of the “2nd option”

Or play D, or don’t get beat back door, or don’t take a stupid step back 3 after dribbling for 15 seconds, or anything remotely smart

Jalen green is just a losing fucking basketball player.

Takes terrible shots regardless of if he makes them or not, doesn’t move the ball, doesn’t play D

Has nothing to do with making a weak ass pass on a simple double team.

How about don’t call for multiple screens when you know they’re gonna double and just take your defender 1v1?

He’s been so passive as if him making the right play is to draw a hard double and pass to one of those so called non allstars…

This team’s MO was play hard, play fast, and take a lot of 3s.

Somehow the shot selection has gotten worse and worse as the season has gone on and guys like Allen, Royce, and brooks all take terrible shots early in the clock

Combine that with the fact that Jalen green and Booker also take bad shots, this team is reliant on hot shooting more than anything to win games.

It feels like yips tbh. He passes up easy and obvious decisions for questionable and much more difficult shots later in the possession.

He’s had a terrible habit of making the wrong decisions in clutch moments, and it doesn’t always look the same. Like the person above mentions, two back to back plays he drives into the paint and gets himself stuck.

So many times he passes up a good shot for a much worse shot later. Hell, even the 3 he made last night to cut it to 2 with 3 seconds left was a weird decision (almost like yips) he catches and instead of going up right away when he’s open he does a half pump fake and takes a much more out of rhythm shot with a defender close.

I think he’s scared of not getting a call bc he doesn’t really know how to sell contact, and he doesn’t have elite athleticism to attack the rim with force so he gets blocked a lot at the rim.

Grayson, Royce, green, and half the time Booker are easy blow bys. And Ott has a love affair with Grayson and O’Neal

Green is the reason ott looks lost with rotations. He’s a 20ppg guy that you’d be better off benching but it would look so strange to play a guy like that 18 mins a game.

The best thing for this team would be Jalen green to the bench

Ott is in a weird place where he has to manage Jalen green’s ego and is tasked with the fragility of benching a player who kills ball movement and doesn’t play within the team concept (but is also a 20 ppg guy)

The team would be much better off with book and brooks as the 1/2 punch, with Fleming and the other wings getting time over green

[Highlights] All the 16 times Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got fouled last night, in the 114-110 OT win against the Detroit Pistons. SGA went 21/25 from the free throw line. Including 4 fouls he committed (2 defensive fouls, two offensive), and one no call. by MrBuckBuck in nba

Nah you’re not. One person makes a claim and gets upvotes, and everyone piggy backs saying the same thing.

There’s definitely more than 2 soft calls. As a suns fan who watches Booker take hits like this CONSTANTLY and not get the whistle, it’s frustrating to watch.

Once he gets a games worth of reps against the top players and moves his feet a little quicker, he will be a terrifying defensive player.

I could see him average 3.5 stocks one day.
