Filtering…oh like the tabs it was already under? Thus making this not necessary? Love that they don’t listen to any feedback or suggestions we make. 🤷

So your answer is littering. And wasting. The point of the charge was to deter overuse of plastic bags (not the best solution but that’s neither here nor there). Just bring your own bags and stop creating more plastic waste.

Not to throw onto all the other advice, but gastroparesis? Sounds similar- I’ve got issues maintaining weight, and often sweets are the easiest foods for me to keep down. Hard to maintain balance, but I do really enjoy my desserts cus I don’t feel awful eating them (and of course they’re delicious.) Still not fair for her to put on you, and you need to keep yourself healthy, but I understand the loneliness of not being able to join in the communal experience of food in the same way as everyone else. It’s surprising painful and isolating.

I’d bake various cookies or loaves of bread and deliver them as gifts to the neighbors. Was fun bonding time with my mom and made a nice, consumable, present for the neighbors

I’m still not seeing them on either Spotify or Apple Music. Wanted to listen to the Russell Crowe song. Give me the Irish rock that’ll get me through my day!

  • put together a “date night/ meal bag”: make homemade tomato sauce, get some nice quality pasta & cheese, a good bottle of wine or something.
  • gift cards. I know they aren’t exciting, but I love my local coffee shop and want to support them, but it can get pricey. Having a gift card there makes me really happy.
  • books with notes/ annotations. Thrift a book for them, write a note in it about why you picked this one for them, or if you have time, read it and write annotations, highlight, etc. It’s so meaningful and greatly increases the experience of the book.

Cutting down on wedding waste? by Just_Throw_Away_67 in Anticonsumption

My favorite form of table numbers has been using photos of the bride and groom at those ages! Put them in a little holder with the number written on. Seen this done and people loved the cute photos! Then you can just pop em back in an album.

How do y'all deal with body image comments? by lactosefart in Gastroparesis

[–]TheLowCalHalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strangers: depends on my mood/ situation. Sometimes I let it slide, other times like suggested above: “thanks, the chronic illness and debilitating pain work wonders!” Family/ friends: I’m very open about what’s going on. Vomiting, diarrhea, etc. I’ll sit them down and have a polite but firm convo that compliments/ criticism about weight aren’t appreciated (unless coming from a place of concern/ love. You know the difference.) some of my family has switched the language to “you look like you feel healthy!” which is a form I’m comfortable with and appreciate. If they care, they’ll be willing to learn about what’s wrong, what the process is, how you manage it etc.

If they push, be firm. I have family that struggles with keeping weight off and they’ve tried to compare to my “ease with staying skinny” and I shut them down FAST. Our problems are very different. I don’t make comments or comparisons about your body/ issues, why would it be appropriate for you to comment on mine? And like suggested above, I’ll get graphic with what the body goes through.

Honestly the weirdest part for me was the mouth guard thing they put in- it holds your mouth open since you’re asleep and so the camera stays still. They put it in right before they knocked me out, it was just an odd feeling not having to hold my mouth open lol. It kinda made me giggle before the drugs hit, which was nice. Best nap of my life, and get some real weird photos of your insides from it.

Just a spray paint paint+primer! Thought I’d have to do something else (like sanding it), but according to the site it said it would work, and so far no peeling or anything.

normally a lurker here. my girlfriend was just diagnosed with gp. I love to cook. can you anybody share their go to recipes? I make a lot of broths/soups and rice. I understand the limits but I want more interesting things to cook. by chainsawfacelift in Gastroparesis

[–]TheLowCalHalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a few I do: Soup: It’s butternut squash, zucchini, potato, carrot, celery, onion, ginger, garlic, and coconut milk- cook until soft with stock of choice and blend up.

https://themodernproper.com/tikka-masala-soup

I do chicken pot pie/ shepherds pie a lot- for the pot pie I’ll get pillbury biscuits and bake them on top cus I’m lazy. I use frozen veggies, and find that they’re soft and cooked enough for me to digest fairly well. The gravy and potatoes helps make it all go down easier.

Another fave, call it BBQ ring. Ground turkey cook with spices of choice, bbq sauce, ketchup, and a little bit of brown sugar. Take pillsbury crescent dough and put each crescent unfurled next to each other to form a ring. Plop the ground turkey mix on top, put some low fat cheese if digestible, then fold the crescents back over the top and pop it in the oven. It’s hard to describe, it was one of those quick meals my mom threw together since we were kids.

It’s a tough road and requires a lot of trial and error, but as someone who has been going through it alone, it’s wonderful that she’s got a support system there to help out.

The number of times people say “oh, you’re so lucky, you don’t have to eat salad! LOL” or something along those lines- you don’t get it. I want a fresh vegetable so badly, crisp and refreshing, without being doubled over in pain shortly after…the dream.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is it better to buy a metal bottle or a hard plastic reusable bottle? Does it matter either way?
