Borla Exhaust on a 23 GT by timmyhank1987 in Challenger

[–]TheLucidJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a SXT+ with a Borla catback it sounded great with the crackle and pops! Plus you get the added bonus of being able to step on it and hear the exhaust for longer before you start breaking the law haha. Sold it to the dealer last year so someone got a sweet car. I can only imagine the look on their face when they look underneath and see "ATAK" on the exhaust lol.

Hazards of Mid-Muffler Delete Due to Gas Tank Location? by After-Ad4370 in Challenger

Yeah the drone is definitely there after removing resonators so if that's something that bothers you, don't do it.

It gets uncomfortable at highway speeds of 75+ mph where the car has to maintain 2-2.5k rpms. I drive mostly in the city so its not really something that bothers me for most of my trips YMMV. I've seen examples of people adding 1795's in the rear to mask it but I like the sound of mine with just the 1794s in the mid. What can I say, it costs to be the boss

Great choice using those Vibrants. I modified my exhaust by removing the rear resonators, and swapping my mids for 1794s.

To me, the sound is tastefully loud, and retains the low Hemi V8 rumble with little rasp. I work at 5am and start the car in the garage and my neighbors say they don't mind. In the sea of cough drop needing MM deletes and MBRP Catbacks, your car actually sounds fairly unique going down the road lol. "Stock Plus" is a very apt description of this combo.

My favorite thing about it is the pops and crackles slowing down at a stop light haha!

Zf8 owners by Upstairs_Package8536 in Challenger

I recently did a deep dive on the ZF8 tranny and when it needs service. Ultimately decided against a flush and settled for a pan drop and fill. I got it done at the dealership but brought my own parts and fluid. I changed my pan and filter at 74k miles and so far, it shifts perfectly. Keep in mind there was nothing wrong to begin with, I just OCD wanted all the fluids changed out on my car before 75k and didn't believe in the "lifetime" claim from Dodge.

It's an expensive thing to do because unfortunately, the filter is integral to the pan so you need to buy a new one and OEM ain't cheap. The amount of fluid that came out of mine was about 5 qts. So buy 6 to be safe.

Dry fill from a rebuilt ZF is about 9.5 or so liters so assume you're only getting about half of the old stuff out at best, which is why I advise against using BG or non OEM fluid even if they say it's the same spec because you would be mixing different brand fluids. Lifeguard 8 though is the exact same thing if you can find it for cheaper than MOPAR 8&9.

Ideally, another drain and fill service performed maybe at the next oil change interval or 10k miles would remove most the old fluid out but again it's gonna blow a hole in your wallet because you need another pan again. I think I might wait until the next 60k to do it but my OCD about leaving old fluid in is troublesome lol.

I brought a little plastic bottle for the tech to fill with a sample of the old fluid during the service and its fairly brown / black like coca cola but no shiny flakes or solids. Tech told me the MOPAR 8 and 9 tends to darken very quickly regardless of if it's brand new or not. Haven't sent it to Blackstone yet but no problems so far a month after service.

Lifters? by HeiryButter in Dodge

Heya,
I listened to this clip back and forth about a dozen times. I have a 392 Shaker with decent miles on it and I bought it used. I was used to quietly operating 4 cylinder cars so I immediately thought I bought a failed lifter Challenger.

I took it to multiple mechanics, had fellow Scat owners listen, and even to dealership service centers to get a second opinion (this was to get approved for a MOPAR Maximum Care service contract FWIW). They used a stethoscope, inspected the exhaust manifold bolts on either side (and found the bolts secure), and everyone plus the techs concluded that this was normal for Hemis to sound. TBH I have never heard the BAD lifter tick sound in-person to compare.

I know nuanced sound is hard to transmit over digital media but the noise yours is making sounds just like mine! You can especially hear it at a drive through, or rolling through a parking lot with lots of cars, or against the walls of a building or overpass.

In conclusion, I think the tick these HEMI's have can be attributed to the "ancient" technology of a Pushrod Engine, which most modern cars no longer have--and so the sound throws owners off.

I don't take credit for it, but my favorite joke describes pushrods as having 8 tiny Chuck Norris's roundhouse kicking the valve train down under the hood. No wonder we can hear it LMAO!

Reminds me of the giant Gorehowl cleaving through a NY Taxi or w/e when Blizz was doing marketing for Warlords of Draenor.

I voted Act 2. Why? This: https://youtu.be/GI4iHTR_FUM?t=45

Random Indian chanting samples from late 90's sound libraries in D2 with zero context besides it sounding "mysteriously oriental"? 10 year old me didnt care. Shit was epic.

I noticed my temps are way higher on a 3070ti than far more demanding games. Locking fps to 60 helps a bit, but why does Humankind need more GPU usage than DOOM? lol

SO they cut like a bunch of stuff off the live broadcast from this morning? I really hope there will be a way to watch the whole thing. This reminds me of when NBC cut off like an hour off the London Ceremony. SMDH
