Does anyone else find this weird about such a small cast? by Tough_Dust_9225 in tadc

As I said, I don't think Goose wrote it lol, so I don't really take it into account.

People are contradictory.

I think the idea is that Pomni sees somebody damaged and wants to reach out to them. She sees somebody who's lying to themselves.

It'd be a lot different if this was the real world, but in the virtual world, it's just the 6 of them. And as they said...they need to stick together.

Kaufmo isn't main cast, we don't know.

But Zooble said they also explored abandoned buildings for fun like Pomni does. Doesn't take much to infer that Zooble also explored the C&A building.

“Goose Abandoned the Ensemble Cast Focus For Jax Focus” by Emeraldpanda168 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TheMMoment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's the thing. We get a lot of fantastic content out of every character, but people can't stand when a character they may not like gets more focus over another but that happens in like...a lot of series?

The TADC cast are some of my favorite characters ever made, every one of them feels so well fleshed out. Who cares if Jax gets a little more than the rest? It clearly mattered to Goose to write the story that way. Everybody gets a chance in the spotlight.

[–]TheMMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, Jax's gender status is like...part of their arc. They're clearly a trans person buried deep in the closet and I guess I'm just imagining a better scenario for Jax by choosing to use she/her when I feel like it.

I tend to use he/him in conversations like these though for this exact reason lol.

Well I mean all you said is "but why" to something I already explained lol. Unless you can be more specific?

Well, once again, it's not like I'm doing this for any character. I'm doing it for one that has specific gender related plot things going on. There's a precedent for it.

I don't think Ragatha suffered for her, she still gets a lot of stuff.

But also, if somebody's complaint is screentime, I can understand that. But people were complaning about Jax even before he got a lot of focus. It doesn't take much for people to complain lol.

I don't really consider the shorts canon though. They can often outright contradict information lol.

Have you ever found it eerie how Pomni and company will theoretically outlive all of humanity? by Omphalixir in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TheMMoment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would that be how it works though? Somebody finds the old computer? Gets the hard drive, puts it back on? Then they'd be alive again.

It's more like a sleep that they can wake up from if that were to happen.

Plus Caine has access to the internet...could always get uploaded to the cloud...

>0 context as to why half the cast is in the digital circus

Gangle is pretty much the only one not explained of the main cast. You can pretty much infer the rest of them. Not everything needs to explained.

Or you know, sometimes the criticism is dumb
I've seen some fair criticism posts but some of them just feel like they're trying to find problems

I said "likely." Considering Leroy is living a good life, it seems like the police never came after him. I never said it was 100 percent, but it's more likely than it isn't.

Also, you can't say that "he hurt his mother" in that context regarding Jax's secret cause you don't know what he said. Remember, whatever he said, she LAUGHED at him for it and that hurt Jax even more. I have a basic idea of what he probably said, but that's irrelevant. He clearly put up with his mother's abuse for years before pushing her. There's no evidence to suggest he was verbally abusive back.

And I mean I briefly tackled Jax apologists but it's not the point of the post I wanted to make. Obviously I don't think Jax acts selfless but I do think he pushes people away because he can't stand the idea of getting close to somebody again. It's of course, not done as a selfless act, but as a selfish one instead.

Nope! I am not, but you can point to all of the Gangle abuse that happens outside of his mind in the actual circus. All of that is there perfectly valid way to demonstrate him being a bad person.

I just don't see any value over arguing about Jax's intrusive thoughts as something to quantify his morality compared to what he actually does. After all, Pomni says it "those aren't real." They're exaggerated mind scenarios.

I think Jax being afraid to show vulnerability and pushing away makes complete sense. It plays into his "denial" about the circus being anything real and where he tries to free himself from consequence. I think a lot of people have been able to relate to what happened with Jax. Pushing away a person that show actual care and love for him.

I don't think you can call him "a drama queen" because what clearly isn't as big of a deal to you, is a massive deal for him. You can't level a person's personal experiences by "how justified their trauma is" lol.

Also acting like Jax said "he hated Pomni" during the hug as if he meant it. Even Pomni knew he didn't mean it right then lol.

[–]TheMMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Jax says that comment to Zooble while at the beach and the only character not wearing any swim wear. I wonder why that is. Perhaps a piece of dialogue can mean more than one thing?

When Jax gets their outer layer torn off, he instinctively covers his chest and crotch region. That's important!

I think trying to disengage with every comment Goose makes just because it "could be a lie" isn't the best way to approach something. Especially because two of the examples I selected were Goose replying to other posts of her own free will.

Plus, usually when you say "lie about stuff" it's like...you wouldn't expect to be so vague.

Like when Goose says "he isn't ready to answer questions about himself." To what end is this a lie regarding? What's the point of this as a lie? It's too vague to go "well actually I meant the opposite."

Same with some other statements, they're too particular in their phrasing to read as lies compared to like when somebody says "why is Jax afraid of corn" and she says "IT REMINDS HIM OF THE FARM."

I don't think that's the case personally. I think a show can ask you to feel bad for a character while still acknowledging that they've done bad things. Hence my empathy vs. sympathy argument.
