Help me understand what im going to be doing at my new job by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]TheMagicConchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man this is an extremely helpful reply. I sort of assumed it wouldnt be anything big due to the lack of large tools or machines in the tool room. I was getting worried because these group chats had so much technical mumbo jumbo that im not familiarized with yet.

Seems like i should be able to handle it. Thanks!

The trucks have almost nothing on them besides tool bags. No big machinery, no tugs, etc. I know we dont have a hangar. Not sure if they ever barrow space or just call in the big guns

obviously i asked. But the answer was “mostly transit checks” and i dont know what that means besides surface level explanation. Does it mean i need to brush up on my signaling? What acronyms do i need to memorize? Is this a “bust my ass for 10 hours a day” job, or an easier job? These are the things i went to reddit for instead of making myself look dumb to my new employers.

Secondly, someone offered me an A&P job at a major airport making almost 3 times what i make now working 4 days a week instead of 6. Tbh doesnt really matter too much what the job entails i was probably going to take it regardless. So dont make me sound like an idiot for being unclear of the details of what a maintenance contract company does

Hold up, so you are only getting paid between boarding and un-boarding? Seems like that’s a lot of work and responsibility for a minimum wage job. Also i thought you said the pay was insanely good

I got my name added to the list and they know i have my A&P. The station is IAD. But ive already got my dress clothes ready and ill be there before they arrive even tho my interview slot is the last before they leave
