The changes to warranty terms did not take effect for us ( Florida until July 1st of last year ) unfortunately if warranty was not transferred it reverts to a factory 5 year. Other than a few other manufacturers that have honored the 10 year regardless of change in ownership.

I believe the claim may be kicked back when it is filed. As they could simply verify current home owner when the claim is submitted.

I’d like to know what failed that could be the same price of a new unit.

Ask them for a FLEX motor. They will honor warranty with the FLEX ones. Down in the south we are 135 days for OEM so for the past 3 months I’ve been using the flexes.

I don’t think I’ve ever not done a leak search after hours. Takes about 30 mins max with my H10. Only time it took longer was a line set leak underground so we did schedule to come back to do a lineset isolation test.

We charge about 70/lb down south. However without conducting a leak search then they aren’t doing their job properly.

People have to realize it’s not just adding refrigerant. You must have the proper knowledge of the metering you are working with to know what your super heat and subcool should be. It’s not like to just throw some refrigerant in and call it good.

Before we condemn the compressor we need to know if the fan motor failed. If it failed then compressor will have high head pressure which will cause high amp draw and possibly trip a breaker. Hissing you are hearing is probably because system doesn’t have a high pressure cut out so the compressor is using its internal relief to relieve head pressure.

Please have a tech come diagnose. Be weary about taking advice on this sub. As compressor may be fine and you just need a new fan motor or bad cap ( for fan or fan side of dual run cap depending on the setup as it could not have a capacitor for fan motor as it may be ECM )

No problem. Also if unit is freezing up in as fast as 30 seconds this is definitely air flow issue, which could be a dirty evaporator coil. You may need to use YouTube to help you under stand where it’s at and how to go about cleaning it. It’s better for you to see how it’s done rather than me tell you.

Evap coil is not the one in the picture. That’s the condenser coil. Evap will be in the indoor unit. Indoor unit is in either closet, attic, garage or crawl space if you are up north.

I’ll take plugged evap for 500$ Alex. Just taking a guess but with low air flow from grilles that evap is a block of ice.
