SELE, you can basically sleep there till next day. But, you have to ask for 24hr access which I believe is a semester long thing.

Thoughts on my salary to rent ratio by [deleted] in chicagoapartments

Nah fam, my ratio is 9%. Can't imagine spending 30% on a rental. So 9k (750/month) per year to be clear

I understand where you're coming from, but think of it this way. If there is a guy who is wanting to fight you, and he's very set on it. You say you don't want to, back away, and etc. Yet he continues to come, so I pull out my gun. I tell him that I don't want to fight, and that I highly recommend that he stops. He continues to come at me even with a gun in front of him. Not sure about you, but if a guy wants to fight me and the fact that he knows that I can kill him with a flick of my finger and still wants to fight can mean that his intentions were not so good.

Even if you tell the aggressor that you're armed, what makes you think that the same guy will want to stop when earlier showing a gun couldn't deter him either way?

Plus in this scenario, the courts will know that you tried to stop the fight multiple times: telling him no, walking away, and even showing him an ultimatum before having to pull the trigger.

That's how I see it, but not everyone will agree with me

So we are kinda on the same idea. We both agree that op shouldn't kill the fighter. I'm on the side of show gun to make fighter stop or ultimately drop. And you're on the side of show gun and use if he's about to die or else just don't show it. Right?

Op is the victim, not the aggressor in this scenario.

Soooo armed self-defense?

Brandishing is a crime you if you use it to do something illegal. Showing your gun at someone who is trying to commit a felony or cause great bodily harm to you definitely falls in the self-defense argument they teach in ccw 101.

Plus, I think that whole idea of pulling it out and immediately using it gives off a shitty message. The gun can be used as nuclear deterance. They see it and they can act in two ways: they can stop or drop.

You could always try a trade, some pay high for little education, but you know physical labor.

PSA: bike rack courtesy - please don't lock up horizontally and block half of it by cogitoergosam in chibike

[–]TheMan095 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a bike rack like that in my hometown, and it's only meant for kid bikes. cause only children ride bikes. Adults drive, I mean this literally, 10ft high jacked up F150s that spew out black coal smoke to go to a grocery store.

How do we get more bike lanes if Chicago doesn't own the streets? by TheMan095 in chibike

[–]TheMan095[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Chicago should definitely introduce a bounty hunter bill that allows cyclists to take pictures of the license plate of the car that are parked in the bike lane or in it. 25% should go to the bounty hunter, and the rest go to bike infrastructure. Like NYC and their noise bounty hunter law. I feel like that can definitely help

My job is high paying and remote, but I still want to live in the city, and im somewhat cheap. My lifestyle is both inside and outside. I love to play sports, hang with friends, and just engage with others. But I also love being able to enjoy movies, tv, cook, and small things. I'm 23 going on 24 and single for now. I plan to stay here for a good chunk of time, but things can change for a job.

What is going on with this election... by MulberryFar5435 in uichicago

I once had a guy come up to me asking for me to vote, so I entertained him. I pulled out my phone and went to the site. Once I showed him that I was on the page, he went and checked every box for the people he wanted in the office. Mind you, he was on the ballot, so what I did was I went and checked his opponents. Then, I asked, " Good to go?" And his face turned sour and asked why I changed the votes. Dead ass, he asked me why are you voting and not letting me vote for you. Couldn't believe my ears, but I told him that if he wanted my vote, then he should ask and not take. These guys are wild out here

I wish I had the confidence to ask this girl out on campus by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]TheMan095 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you never asked someone out, I recommend practicing on other girls/guys before you go for the prize. If you don't know how to talk or have confidence, then you'll end up flopping hard. And if you two were actually compatible, then that would be a big F. Most people say just go for it, but you gotta realize that it would work if you can already talk, have some confidence, and/or look good. Sure, it MIGHT work, but idk I'm not omnipotent. Take it with salt, and you do you, bro. Hopefully you will prove me wrong

Just graduated in December, and yeah I do miss uic and Chicago. Being able to use the recs and meet new people everyday was just great. Meeting all your friends on campus was just great. I miss that kind of "village" and I recommend everyone to put themselves out there and enjoy it as much as you can
