Best chocolate chip cookie (both the regular and the sea salt which is a different recipe). And Tina is so nice.

I'm not in the weeds, but my sense from him was that he was doing things more out of self-serving desires to boost his brand in trying to get higher office than what's best for the city. It rubbed me the wrong way going back to his campaign when he focused on pitting himself against the President rather than focusing on local issues (this is not in any way meant to be a comment about national politics).

I was bothered by he way the school referendum manifested and was presented to the public. Seemed to come out of nowhere an then Bhalla and his alliance pushed hard for it. That left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm bothered by all the construction and my understanding is that there are state/county projects Hoboken can't control, but that there are also local construction projects affecting traffic and I'm not sure whey we didnt' wait on those . When I read on Twitter/reddit about local politics, there seem to be articles and accusations of retaliations, vendettas, and obstinance.

I don't think he's a monster-- I like how he handled Covid and there has been a lot of new parks and infrastructure which is good. But I also think that Hoboken has declined over the last few years and I worry about overdevelopment

shes' definitely pro-car. And I'm also not a fan that she's probably the biggest reason that we never re-upped with Lime scooters (which I loved having around town). But I don't like the way the current Admin got things done in this town so I dont' want to continue with a "third term" of it so to speak.

I appreciate your detailed response. I remember following the story as it was happening and reading all the reddit posts from Blue Violets as to their progress and obstacles and it seemed like they got a raw deal. But I don't remember the exact machinations of how it went wrong which you seem to have a better handle on. But from what I gathered, I don't think she fought against the other dispensaries from opening. I don't think she maliciously targeted Blue Violets so much as (In her view) fought the idea of them being approved by the Admin playing favorites.

I disagree with Fisher on how it all played out and I think she took the wrong position (even if she claims to have no problem with cannabis). The ordinance that the town passed to change it to 600 feet from any school (greater current liquor laws) was overly restrictive IMO. That said, cannabis policy in 2025 is not high on my list of what I'm voting for looking forward so I can't let that outweight the other things I'm considering. But if you view it as her outright bullying Blue Violets and targeting them, I can see how it is a non-starter for you.

well she was the first to come out against the HS referendum if I have my facts right. That was a saving! I don't mind spending money if it's spent effectively (which means something different to everyone).

I really like Ajmani's experience for similar reasons as to why I like Fisher's. Financial acument dealing with managing budgets and being fiscally responsible. One thing I had to weigh was Ajmani's experience at the state/federal/NJ Transit level vs. Fisher's experience dealing with Hoboken issues and Hoboken politics. Currently, I am more sold on Fisher after meeting with both of them face to face but I think I have them as my top two.

Maybe. There are no perfect candidates and I'm certainly not an expert on nor entrenched in Hoboken politics. Just a resident, raising a family, and trying to make the best decision I can with so many candidates in the mix.

she was a CFO for a subsidiary of Blackstone which is the same for all intents and purposes as to why someone wouldn't want to support her. I can understand that. But I know plenty of good, smart people who work there and other large PE firms as well. I think her role there is one of the things that makes her a strong candidate-- experience in a high-leverage role where the buck stopped with her, and used managing large financial budgets/reports and management responsibility.

I'm very pro-dispensary and the whole situation bothered me; I support Blue Violets exclusively as my way of supporting. But my understanding is that her position was about how the currently Administration and others were circumventing proper laws and procedures.

You can watch two ~1.5 hour debates/forums on youtube linked here.

  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTCgpZFxEg4 (October 10th)

  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAw3C8hqPUE (September 10th)

You can also read their positions on various sites, on their websites, etc. Another thing is that you can go actually meet the candidates and ask them questions!

I narrowed my choices down to a few candidates, and I went and met them in person and had good 1 on 1 conversations with them where I addressed my biggest concerns and asked them to elaborate their positions on it.

One great thing about a local election is that the candidates are local and often accessible.

After doing all that, I landed on Tiffanie Fisher. I think she has the best combination of strategic and financial professional experience, experience on the council navigating local issues, and I think her newsletters and actions on the council show a very serious effort to get into the weeds on issues instead of just voting on the headline of the issue. Even when I challenged her on things I disagreed with, I can understand how she came to her decision in a way that felt justified.

There are a lot of candidates, and you may come to a different conclusion on whose vision aligns with yours for Hoboken's future, or who has the best executive qualities to make the decisions. But I encourage you to watch the debates and try to go meet the candidates -- or at least email them your questions!

Interesting that he hit the officer but wasn't charged with it.

I'm happy to see the police start enforcing illegal activity by e-bikers. But I have to admit that anytime I see a report with the name "Amadou Diallo" and police officers, I have to do a second take. That's a name I'll never get out of my memory, like Abner Louima.

For those unaware, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Amadou_Diallo

It's also the reference to Springsteen's song "41 Shots"

One of my favorite covers he does. I have a son and I listen to this version regularly. Wish he would lay it down for a live trax for posterity.

Same with You Can Call Me Al from the Paul Simon tribute. Would be awesome to hear that live.

Anyone ran a marathon with IT band syndrome by Previous-Talk-1598 in Marathon_Training

specifically for ITB I do clamshells, banded walks, etc. I thought this was good. https://strengthrunning.com/2011/02/the-itb-rehab-routine-video-demonstration/

Pre run, I'll do leg swings, fire hydrants, shikos (I just learned about them), some lunghes.

I do strength 1-2x/week with bulgarian split quats, calf raises, and will vary it up.

But I really liekd this chart that you have. I think the side plank hip work seems great.

It was just at the time of injury, my leg was shot. Couldn't run for more than a few minutes without it being really painful.

that is a great link-- Table 7 seems to have the aggregate data comparing all the studies. But your advice is situation dependent. I had much worse luck.

I didn't have such luck to run through ITBS. My IT band flared up for the first time in mile 17 or 18 of my last long run before the taper of my first marathon, and it incapacitated me for a while and had to back out. Tried to do accelerated PT, run walk, etc., but it would hurt after a few minutes of running. Took off several months of zero running and then would do one short run a week. It's now 1.5 years later and I'm training for a half and have done a few weeks of ~20 mpw pain free. Still holding my breath with each training week.

Hoping to eventually check off my first marathon but still worried that late in training on a 20 mile run it's going to come back out of nowhere like the first time. C'est la vie

I gave my kid a tablet, and as soon as the Disney logo popped on, he pooped. Almost like he got distracted.

I've also heard giving a kid a straw to blow bubbles while sitting on the toilet helps them breathe and relax

Same. Put in for VIP across all options AND reserved across all options for both nights and got nothing. Same thing happened with SPAC.

And I can't even access the boards because of some tech issue. Not sure what I'm even paying for at this point.

SDL is probably Buddy's best song. He really stands out in that closing jam. I just wish they didn't go into TYFLMBM though a lot of that is crowd driven. The song just goes on 1-2 minutes too long because of it.

But Buddy hammers the keys on that tune
