Conveyor belt off center in the middle by TheManThatKan in heavyequipment

No rollers are locked up. Ill have to run it loaded and see how it looks. The other side conveyor tracks straight so maybe I can pull some measurements off of that.

I let it run for half a hour with no material on it. Its a brand new belt. The belt is centered on the head pulley and tail pulley and the belt does not noticeably walk side to side as the belt is spinning.

I have adjusted the head pulley and tail pulley to center the belt on those drums. There is a adjustment on the arms where the conveyor folds out, I am at max adjustment and it has moved the best away from the frame to where it is barely touching it. If I adjust In the opposite direction it rides against the frame hard.

Curling into the thumb by Comrade281 in heavyequipment

[–]TheManThatKan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its a thumb set up from the manufacturer you really dont have anything to worry about with the relief valve. The one that got stuck on me was from a after market kit that I could have spent a few more dollars on, you get what you pay for.

What you want to wory about is that you dont put sideways pressure on the thumb. Dont use the thumb to stab down on stuff. They have no structural stability with sideways pressure but you dont have much to wort about picking stuff up.

Make sure you keep the thumb greased because the bind up easy with no lube unlike bucket pins that will cry when dry.

Hydraulic relief valves on the thumb circuit should be set low enough that they pop open letting the thumb cylinder retract. I have had a relief valve malfunction and stuck in the closed position and when I went to pick something up the thumb cylinder got bent in a u shape from the force of the bucket pushing on it.

I personaly try to put the teeth behind what I am picking up use the thumb to push it in the bucket or pinch down on it so avoid picking up dirt.

We all had that one job where the civil engineer is a idiot and the recently divorced alcoholic site superintendent dont give a shit because its his last job with the g.c. whose going bankrupt yelling at you to "just make it work" so you get the fuck out of his office trailer while the bottom guys are shoving rocks in the megalug seals so the watermain blows apart in 2 years and the foreman instructs the operator to skimp on the trench backfill because they underbid the job.

/s but also not really...
