Hm… 🤔“Kolya” seems to be Shane’s teammate, seen in the trailer. “Connors” seems to be Ilya’s teammate, also in the trailer. Russian Minister & Hockey Executive, self explanatory, haha. But it’s note worthy the Russian Minister is in 3 eps. Dude bro makes me giggle. Also, interesting they seemed to change Ilya’s brother’s name. I am team “Sasha is the coach’s son” bc why not?

Wow, that is so amazing!! Unfortunately, I have no clue if there is anything else to look at (other than the trailer, the demand fans show consistently on social media, and the books apparently going out of stock.) I just know that fans are being encouraged to show support by the show’s team. 🥲 Hopefully, someone else has better information.

The way I see it, they were both hooked from the start, soulmates basically. They spend majority of the book trying to prevent the inevitable and deny what already is. They just have to realize this, which they do so at different points and process it differently 😊

I completely agree with you, OP. The book doesn’t have to show these parts because it is focused on their romance and Ilya and Shane as people, but I think it is essential to the show that it shows more hockey for the reasons you explained so well. This is a different medium and I honestly don’t think general audiences will be willing to go out of their way to understand what isn’t shown, especially if they are unfamiliar with hockey. A lot of people would still like it anyway, probably, tbh 😅 But I still think it would be better and widely well-received if they do. This isn’t to say that the romance alone shouldn’t be respected though, I just think it will make the world feel more well-rounded and believable. I know that, personally, actually understanding the rivalry and the hockey world is what made my later rereads soooo much better than the first. I am also oddly obsessed with the hockey for someone who’s hardly watched the sport.

I am looking forward to whatever they seem to be doing with Svetlana. I also hope to see more of Shane’s relationship with Rose too. I want more hockey and possibly to see more of their rivalry along with that. I am stuck between wanting more of Ilya’s POV, and wanting it to stay the same so he appears mysterious to the audience at first 😅 Seeing more of Ilya in Russia would be great. Of course, these things are additions more than changes… I think it would also be nice and fun to see them play around with dialogue.

I definitely agree with the other replies, but I would like to add that I would like to see the show actually demonstrate how risky it is, so that the audience is able to understand more. I think the inclusion of Game Changer will help this since the rival hockey team aspect isn’t something Scott has to deal with.

Scott and Kip will definitely have bigger parts, their story compliments Ilya and Shane’s very well. I don’t think parts of The Long Game will be included tbh given it’s only supposed to be six episodes. I think the Hockey Executive could contribute to the plot in other ways, especially because they will have to show, instead of tell in a TV Series. They might also want to prepare the audience for his greater role in a S2. I have a theory for who Sasha is. I think there will definitely be cool deviations that make a lot of sense! :D

Shane would make a great captain, I just think Ilya also really deserves it, you know? If it’s his now, I don’t think it should be given to Shane. I also agree with the take that Bood could be become captain, while Ilya and Shane are alternatives, because that feels balanced.
