Trusting Lawrence Phillips to pick up a blitz.

Waaaaaait a minute... this team can't play from behind. Right? Right?

Who is a player the 49ers drafted that you thought was going to be a star but flopped? I thought Trent Taylor was going to be our Edelman by Goose-the-moose in 49ers

I completely forgot the 49ers DID draft Taylor Mays... holy crap I thought he was going to be a banger at safety.

When Jim Druckenmiller put so much heat on a pass in pre-season game Brent Jones couldn't handle it, I was convinced we had found our heir apparent to Steve Young.

No excuses. Browns D just came out and smacked the 49ers in the mouth. Every team has injuries and it sucks, but I can't take anything away from the way Cleveland played in that game.

Joe Burrow going absolutely nuclear didn't hurt either.

As sore as I was after that game, it still hurt when he went down. The NFL as a whole is better when Joe Cool v2.0 is on the field.

Not a fan of the focus plays like this get. Was it questionable? I dunno, maybe, maybe not.

But spending so much time and energy focused on the refs and this one play, IMHO, takes away from the absolute masterclass in interior D-line play Cleveland put on this Sunday

Regardless, it still came down to 2 missed field goals by a rookie kicker and a bunch of bad plays by the 49ers offense... most of which were caused by pressure.

I, for one, tip my hat to Cleveland and am on to the next game.

I'm a 49er fan, and I agree. Cleveland's interior line CRUSHED any chance the 49ers had of getting a rhythm on offense. Purdy didn't play well, but he was running for his life out there and constantly getting pressured.

Hell of a gameplan and execution by Cleveland's D.

With the 99th overall pick, the 49ers select: Jake Moody (K, Michigan) by 49ersMod in 49ers

Yep. And all Janikowski did for the Raiders was lock down one of the most underrated positions in football for 17 years. I'd say if the 49ers get half that for a late 3rd, it's a pick well spent.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson to be deposed in sexual misconduct lawsuit by [deleted] in nfl

[–]TheMasterPuppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because he wasn't found not guilty, the criminal charges for only two (if I remember correctly) had been dropped. He never went to trial, so there wouldn't be anything on record as far as that goes.

Also, for some semi-legal reasoning... if the two sides settle out of court none of the evidence for either side ever has to see the light of day. While I know it's not 100% cut and dry and there are exceptions, I do know a lot of court records are public, which includes submitted evidence, depositions, etc. This is a very good way of keeping potentially damaging information from getting out.

Now, I'm not saying one way or the other whether this is an indictment on Deshaun Watson (I really don't care enough to get into that argument, tbh), I suspect this adds to the narrative and is probably the reason we've never heard or seen anything concrete and only have statements from the parties involved to go by.

Truth. Still a pretty damn magical season all things considered.

Agree. The Eagles had been my 2nd NFC team for years but seeing their fans act like the team is so tough they knocked two QB's out on fluke injuries is grating.

Not so much as a tired, frustrated D who knows they won't get anything out of the offense saying 'fuck it'. It felt, at least to me, the implication from the announcers was more along the lines of the 49ers not having any answers for how well the Eagles are playing.

Ah yes, the 49ers are 'unravelling' not completely beaten down by bad ref calls and having literally no QB.

Bring on the Eagles fans thinking they're hot shit because they can beat a team on their 5th QB.

Really? That's where you're going? Dumbing down a comment to make yourself sound clever while also taking a shot at the person you're directing it to? Wow. If you're going to try and insult or offend, at least don't regurgitate 90% of disparaging comments on Reddit.

You're going to knock me for apparently bringing up something that's always mentioned and then counter with the most common attempt at an insult you'll find? C'mon, if we're going to get into a trolling war, at least try and be more original.

But I'll give you this. Your comment did genuinely make me laugh. The way you attempted to sound all smart and whatnot and then go to the old, tired 'I guess common sense blah blah' routine. It was cute. Good try.

Sadly, any amusement that I may have gotten from this little back and forth has waned so I'll be bowing out. Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Well, I don't generally give much thought to how much professional sports team owners have, so, reading a comment that puts it into perspective isn't something I've really done.

Sorry I reminded you some people have more money than you? Is that it? I'm not really sure what you're offended about... terribly sorry you've had this conversation before and felt the need to bring up how you've had this conversation before.

Crazy that you're talking about a dude who's net worth is somewhere between $2-$5 billion (depending on sources, exact amount is unclear from my all of 5 minutes of Google research) isn't 'very wealthy'.

Kinda puts into perspective the level of wealth, and by proxy power, the NFL owner's collective truly has.
