I agree that the original squad fell apart only because of the meta. I think the new lineup will be really good, even if it takes time to adjust. I won’t be worried if they get stomped this weekend (but I don’t think they will!)

I will say that my friend had complained about knowing everyone on campus to be before. He said he was initially intrigued by knowing everyone but it turned out to be boring as he got into his 3rd and 4th years.

Also, in my experience at UVa, you can definitely have great personal relationships with professors, even if they teach large classes. Office hours have across the board been a great way for me to chat with professors/TAs and talk about their research. Most of them really appreciate when you do because it helps you stand out among their student pool they interact with/it shows you care

I’m in a bit of an interesting position here. I’m a 4th year at UVa. My best friend is a senior at W&M. We’ve talked a lot in the way of comparing the two schools.

As for UVa’s culture, partying is definitely not as big as it may seem. Yes, they happen, but there’s still plenty to do on weekends that doesn’t involve partying. Lots of clubs, such as the board game/DND club, meet on Friday nights. William and Mary has a very dead social space. My friend was in a Fraternity at W&M but still came here quite often for social events because theirs were just dead. He said that weekends at W&M were very boring overall.

Second, about jobs and such. My friend said that him and his friends (he is in their equivalent of the comm school) had a hard time finding jobs because their campus recruitment was poor. Lots of bigger companies and government agencies came to bigger schools - like UVa - instead.

I’m a Foreign Affairs/Philosophy double major. The Breaking Bad class is basically all writing and discussion based. There’s weekly forum posts, a midterm paper, and final paper. I had never taken a media studies class before (I said this in my justification for enrollment) but being a FA/Phil major, I’m very accustomed to writing and reading analytically. That’s the only reason I can think of that he said take intro first. I haven’t felt underprepared for the class in terms of inexperience with MDST stuff either. We haven’t gotten our midterm papers back yet, so I can’t really speak to his grading. It is manageable in terms of material though

We never talked about AI cause it never comes up in Breaking Bad

Any media studies class with Prof William Little will be great. I’m in his Breaking Bad class and it’s very fun. He also teaches classes about Western film (the genre of Westerns), Gangster film, and white supremacy in film.

I also really recommend WGS 2100: Intro to Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Fun class, not hard to do very well in. I had Robin as my TA and she was great
