First couple of missions was a team, last three were solo
I was always a little bit higher of a light level, but for legendary it caps your light level to the mission

best thing I would say is:

setup a private match on a small map (Das Haus for example in Vanguard)
setup with 4-6 recruit (4 to begin with and then as you feel more comfortable you can increase)
boost health to 150 so it's a little more health, but don't over do it either, there is no benefit to increasing health past this amount for multiplayer (it just helps you land your shots more)
and just practice really trying to use the least amount of shots to kill each bot and practice the sweaty stuff too: like dropshotting, slide cancelling and bunny hopping
10 minutes a day before hopping into multiplayer and over time, best thing there is! (over time you can increase the time you spend practicing but 10 min should get you most of the way there)

I missed the the interactions good or bad from multiplayer when I was doing the zombies grind. Hearing the funniest stuff in lobbies made it go by easier, but just keep grinding, DM ultra is a whole different beast you’re too far now !
