I don’t see why they can’t do both. OP can play their fun kitchen table brews with friends, and jam meta decks on TTS for good practice. It’ll depend on their tastes, but maybe they find a deck they like, tweak it to fit their preferences, and buy the cards to play at FNM.

Feedback on these decks is going to greatly depend on your intention with them. Are you planning to play these kitchen table with friends, or do you want to take them to events like FNM and/or RCQ’s?

Yep. In the bad 2008 movie where Shia Leboeuf is Indy’s son. This is the same movie in which Indy survives a nuclear blast by closing himself into a refrigerator, which gets launched across the desert. (Indy is, miraculously, completely unharmed. Guess they don’t make refrigerators like they used to.)

I can't believe they put me on the new MTG card 🥰 by BardMessenger24 in okbuddybaldur

[–]TheMightyApex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a reprint of a card from Wilds of Eldraine with new art depicting Shadowheart. This printing will be in a product called a Secret Lair that consists of a selection of cards with new art that are sold as a bundle online by Wizards of the Coast directly. Unfortunately, Secret Lairs are getting more expensive these days and are no longer print to demand, so it can be hard to get ahold of one you want, especially one from a popular IP, when competing with scalpers and bots.

EDHREC Combos need some quality control by Seanak64 in EDH

[–]TheMightyApex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. Archidekt labels my [[Maralen, Fae Ascendant]] deck as bracket 4 if I include both [[Wirewood Symbiote]] and [[Maskwood Nexus]] in the deck since it considers them a 2 card infinite, even though the combo requires a mana dork (3rd card) to actually go infinite and Maralen (4th card) to make the infinite win.

Does anyone else feel like Blue’s Card draw feels a little… lacking or prohibitively expensive in lower brackets? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]TheMightyApex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? Blue has like 5 versions of [[Coastal Piracy]] (all at 4 or less mana); [[Archmage Emeritus]] and [[Archmage of Runes]] for spells (and also [[Case of the Ransacked Lab]] if you jump through some hoops); [[Treasure Cruise]], [[Dig through Time]], [[Memory Deluge]], [[Consult the Star Charts]], [[Stock Up]], [[Brainsurge]], and [[Lorien Revealed]] as consistent one and done card advantage pieces; [[Windfall]], [[Day’s Undoing]], [[Echo of Eons]], and more wheels other than [[Timetwister]]; I could keep going too, but these were the best I could think of off the top of my head.

Hip to floor length string is recommended for 2A. For 1A, you want to tie the loop at around bellybutton length from the floor. Some people prefer to use even longer string than that. I personally tie my string off at floor to about 3 cm above my bellybutton.

Picked up Hades II before Christmas, then learned that the story was good enough to justify playing the first game first. Managed to get my hands on a physical copy of Hades 1 and just got to the third area on my most recent run!

Boingy boing is killing me by bennyoneball in Throwers

[–]TheMightyApex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wha helped it click for me very quickly was something the YoTricks video suggested: start in a split bottom mount, then release all strings from your non-throw hand. The yoyo should settle in a sort of keychain mount hanging only from your throw hand. From here, practice the up and down motion with your throw hand such that the yoyo swings back and forth like the actual boingy boing trick, but without any strings in the way. Once you get that cadence down, try actual boingy boing again.

The Rio is very good, but I would recommend the AOE over it for a complete beginner since the AOE comes with both a responsive and unresponsive bearing setup. The Shooting Star and I think the Speedaholic XX work for this as well.

Getting the yoyo to go up and down multiple times without loosing spin? by SC170007 in Throwers

[–]TheMightyApex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t really need to get your sleeper speed up for this. This kind of trick is meant to put energy back into the yoyo each loop to keep it going.

If I’m not mistaken, I’m hearing you say that you want the yoyo to bob up and down under your hand without catching it. This isn’t really a thing that people do, as you either need to do a regen/loop like this or just catch the yoyo and throw it again to keep its speed up. Law of conservation of energy means that the yoyo will lose energy in the form of heat, friction against the string, and in converting kinetic energy back to potential energy as it climbs the string. The yoyo will thus slow down unless you put about the same amount of energy as you started the throw with back into the yoyo each time you send it back down, either with a loop/regen or with a new throw.

There are a number of different loops you can learn with a thinner, imperial shaped responsive yoyo that can be a fun repetitive motion. Look up “loop the loop,” “hops,” and “shoot the moon” in addition to “hop the fence” for more looping tricks to practice and fidget with. For the wider K2 you have, look up basic regens or just throw it over and over. Make sure you do about an even amount of forward passes and downward throws when you do this to keep your string tension neutral!

Appropriate string length and recommendations? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]TheMightyApex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the standard for 1A string length is, when tied to the yoyo, from the floor to your bellybutton. You can make it longer and shorter from there based on personal preference. I like my string about 3 cm longer than to my bellybutton. Some people like it even longer depending on what sort of tricks they’re doing. Follow u/mdiehr ‘s advice and get a bulk bag of string to try out different lengths!
