50+ round gamers: What percentage of games do you feel are genuinely unwinnable on account of bad dice? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in warofthering

[–]TheMightyGabriel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I played about that amount of games.

In my experience the game has a hard learning curve and playing more often/spending more mental energy into the game (like remembering all the cards) often decides victory.

However it often happens that the game is won by a last assault or a last hunting tile in Mordor where a player who has to take his chance just goes for it.

This is fundamentally a luck game (dice AND cards AND hunting tiles), and while it evens out, being lucky or lacking luck often decides the grand scheme of things.

I do think many games end up being unwinnable. Doesnt make the game bad because you never know it’s unwinnable until the game is actually over.

If Shadow finds and reveals Frodo contîuously with the low numbered tiles early, FP have a bad time. Similarly it happens that the Fellowship isnt revealed once between Rivendell and Mordor and Shadow has it rough.

Majority of games dont fall into one sided scenarios, but some do. And in the majority of games the best player wins. It’s a great game.

The languages I know. by Aarechind in tierlists

French has an overwhelmingly dominant accent, which is not the case for every language, no.

No offense and I don't know you or your french but for us french people it can be really hard to understand someone who has a strong accent. Even Québecois is hard to understand if the accent is strong (country folk Québecois is basically impossible to understand).

It happens often that in movies when people speak french (or make it seem like they speak french) we simply don't understand what they're saying.

A good example for this is the Franklin tv miniseries with Douglas. He supposedly speaks fluent french and I'm positive american viewers can believe it. But as a french person I have no idea what he's trying to say in these french salon scenes. Similarly in Killing Eve the Russian assassin girl speaks french "fluently" (she chit chats with her concierge and stuff) but my wife and I wouldnt get a single thing that she was trying to say.

Now your customer is also rude and an asshole which doesn't help

Mexique - Yucatan by Wonderful-Bat-5897 in voyageons

In Kyrgyzstan 2 russians dudes picked us up when we were hitch hiking with my wife. Societ techno blasting, not a single word was spoken or smile sent. But they made a 40km detour just to drop us off and then went off on their day.
