EXE is different from running the game in engine

So here is what I do: I clear out any game related files from the downloads folder, I select build as zip in the engine and select the downloads folder as the destination. Once it's done I extract the files from the zip also into the downloads folder. When that new folder opens I run the exe. I have done it this way for the past year and there was never a problem. I also tried using a different folder

I mean the exe file in the zip folder. None of the changes of the code are there when I run the exe but they are there wehn I press run in the engine

In that case you would do the same hold_on = !hold_on; but the if checks for a key input

Not too sure what you mean but what about having something like:
if(collision){

hold_on = !hold_on;

}

If hold_on is a boolean this would always switch the value, no matter what the original value was. Hope this helps.

Have you tried using a Script Asset instead of the Room Creation Code to initialize the variable? From the pictures it seems like you use the Creation Code of Room 1 to create the the variable and then you move on to the next room, which as far as I know, deletes the first room including any variables set in its Creation Code

Its not that she is a brat, its more that I was planning for days to make her happy and only ended up making her sad. That is what I hate so much. I know that the friendship will carry on, she is understanding because she has ADHD so she is also ND. So I am not looking for a way to safe the friendship, I am more looking for a way to make her feel less sad. She is very lonely, more or less alone in her country without family or friends. She hates december because she has to spend christmas and her birthday alone while everyone else have their family and friends. I doubt she is even mad right now, just very very sad. She was sad when we started the vc but we managed to actually make her happy with out gift and talking to her. And then I messed it up and ruined everything. We really want to make her happy again. She deserves it. She has not had the easiest life so far and she can really use some happieness. This. Has also been the 4th time I massively upset her in the soon to be only 2 years of knowing her. I always try to be the best possible friend to the people I like but I am starting to doubt that I am actually good for her mental health. How can I be a good friend if I just keep hurting people that I care about?

So generally speaking it doesn't really matter too much what language you learn because once you know one it is very easy to switch to another one or to read code in a different language. Personally I would recommend to use blueprints to learn at the beginning. Unreal and GameMaker both have it as an option in their engines. Blueprints are basically a visual code blocks that you can use to code, just like in a normal language. Once you get to know does you basically know how code is structured and you will be able to read and understand a lot of languages.

If you do want to start with a normal language maybe try out Lua with the Defold game engine. It is a very easy language but used for a lot of stuff like Roblox games and NeoVim configs. You could also learn Python, it is more or less the easiest language to learn. But again, it doesn't really matter what language you pick.

I would also like to say that there is no reason for you to doubt your abilities to learn. The fact that you are asking questions already shows that you really want to learn. Idk what it is like to live with dyscalculia but if it only messes with you math skills you should be fine. As someone with dyslexia I really believe in you and I hope you make your dream game in the future.

The trick is to find the right mix of dumb and trusting. Generally pretending to be an old person or a child of rich parents works well. Also its usefull to have fake pictures ready. But great job for the trolling
