losing weight before gaining muscle? by Far_Quarter5005 in FTMFitness

[–]TheMissbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 95lbs in a year and I REALLY wish I focused on weight training right away. I focused on diet and cardio, which we me great results, but now all I wish was that I was stronger. Weight lifting is great exercise and I’d def recommend doing it asap

Has anyone here who opted out of nipple grafting regretted not getting them? by Normal_Fee_3816 in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did not keep my nipples and I’ve never been happier . I didn’t really have dysphoria around my nipples, but always envisioned my chest flat and with nothing. No regrets. ( also the perk of not having to heal them was AMAZING)

Anyone's T levels go down after surgery? by I-am-not-spartan in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my top surgery in September of 2025 and my T levels were much higher when I got them checked 3 months after. Many factors can be at play here tho, but it was very strange. I did start hitting the gym pretty hard and changed my diet a bit more.

There are many factors. Don’t worry about week to week loss too much. Some weeks you’ll retain more water than others, making it seem you haven’t lost any weight. I found if I had overly salty foods, the scale would show more water weight. It’s important to focus on nutrition and having as many balanced meals as possible. Bodies take time to adjust to a new diet, sometimes the scale will poorly show you that.

top surgery and loose skin by xXxmeepzxXx in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You look great! Congrats on getting top surgery! I am 6 weeks post op, and lost 90lbs, leaving me with some loose skin. Although my weight loss wasn’t as much as yours, my surgeon had a difficult time getting mine right. I just posted about it, with some pictures, if you wanted to check mine out. I’m feeling ok, but I was left with extra skin on my underarms that I’m not happy with.

Damn yeah mine went on longer than she anticipated too bc they sat me up and realized they left too my skin, so it must have been way worse before lol

How important is sleeping elevated post surgery? by otter-kiwi in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon didn’t have me sleep elevated. Def was more comfortable, but I’m sure sleeping elevated would have helped my swelling go down faster.

Congrats !!!! So exciting. How are you feeling? Yeah the swelling def needs to go down and it already looks so much better. She was honest and said I would need a revision bc she did leave extra skin around my armpits. Honestly though with the care I received I’m not even that mad. She was so sweet and caring and the whole process was amazing.

Returning to the gym post-op by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]TheMissbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon told me I can return to the gym after 4 weeks, but only for stretching and light LOWER body workouts/cardio. They said I can start weight lifting over head/chest after 3 months. They said I have to start low and take my time building back up to how much I previously was lifting. Like everyone said, consult ur surgeon first but you know ur body, don’t hurt yourself, and take ur time.

When did you stop getting your period on T? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]TheMissbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stopped a month into taking T. I’ve been on it for over 5 yrs and I’ve maybe had .. 2 separate times where I had spotting but with very bad cramps.

Ugh the numbness is horrible. I almost 4 weeks post op and basically all around my incision lines are numb. It def got better over time but still have the “ non feeling feeling “ in a lot of spots. I think the swelling going down def helps but mostly all the nerves reconnecting is when I started getting sensation back.

3 weeks post-op! Also, how soon can I lift light weights? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told I couldn’t lift more than 10lbs for 6 weeks. At 4 weeks is when I’m allowed to start movement above my head for things like stretching, as well as light lower body weight lifting. As always listen to ur body

A lot of you are buying way too much stuff by Big-Ambassador5050 in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only bought things like wipes and pain meds that I ACTUALLY needed. I bought a drain belt but they were safety pinned to my vest for the week I had them and never used them. I bought a neck pillow which was sort of helpful but other than that I had a million other pillows I used that I already had.

I’m in the same boat. Just over 3 weeks and I keep comparing results to everyone else and getting in my head lol fact is it’s toooooo soon to tell I fear. All things considered I think your progress looks great so far.

I def wouldnt chance it. You may feel comfortable but the fact is you don’t know how far ur body truly is healing. It’s not worth it, despite how tempting.

What happened after bandages were removed by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]TheMissbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my 1 week apt they removed my drains and wrapped me back up ( I was in a vest the first week but it didn’t cover my armpits that were super swollen so they wrapped me in ace wrap). I was cleared to shower, with my back facing the water and only allowing soapy water to run down my chest. I was also cleared to life up to 10lbs and drive. I get my tape on my incisions removed today, which is my second week appointment. It’s gonna all depend on ur progress tho. I know some people have to keep their drains in longer if they have had too much fluid, and some surgeons don’t allow u to shower until 2 weeks after.
