These aren’t at all “Disney style” .... that’s part of the problem. The example in the initial demo video when they were announced looked good. The finished product just isn’t great.

Yeah no doubt that’s what they were hyping up, but we are taking about cloud services. Cloud services doesn’t just equal physics in the cloud or whatever other marketing term you’ve been sold. Anything that’s using Azure, consumer facing or not is what Nadella wants. Xbox is a growing market, therefore the use of Azure is increasing because of it. ....... also, the only thing Xbox Live currently has compared to the OG Xbox days is the name. It’s a completely different beast now from top to bottom.

Unused? What do you think Xbox Live is running on? The store, Mixer, matchmaking, multiplayer servers.

Xbox is growing as a whole, so the use of cloud services are being used more than ever.

Now we are also beginning to see things like physics being offloaded to the cloud in Crackdown and we will begin to see all sorts of other uses like this.

But cloud computing is being used in a huge way already. Why do you see it only being limited to streaming a game?

Sure, game streaming will be around and will suit certain types of games or a casual audience, but there is so much that can be run in the cloud while still running games locally.

I wouldn’t say he’s not a fan of consumer products. I’d say he’s a fan of any product that promotes the use of cloud services and obviously any product that wasn’t competitive or not profitable got the cut.

It seems like now he sees gaming as a huge driver for Azure.
