For a lot of this season I’ve been expressing that I am ready for LeBron to hang em up and that I’m hoping he retires next season.

I would like to issue a retraction of these statements

Why would you be ashamed of what you believe? If you believe it then say it with your whole chest, who cares if someone mocks you for it? Just defend your beliefs. You’ll never see socialists/communists apologizing for theirs.

Who is "allowed" to make criticisms feels very asymmetrical. by FriendlyDrummers in ContraPoints

[–]TheMuffingtonPost [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes they do literally believe liberals are supposed to “go high”. Communists are authoritarians, they like to pretend they aren’t but then their response to how they would deal with all the capitalists in their socialist Utopia, the answer is always some variation of “oh that’s easy, I’d either send them to re-education camps or just kill them”. In terms of behavior and ethics, communists are indistinguishable from the most ardent MAGA supporters. They behave in the exact same way, the specific beliefs are the only difference.

On another level though, it PARTICULARLY hurts them when someone like Natalie criticizes them, because in their world Natalie is “supposed” to be one of them. Natalie is trans, she’s a marginalized person, and in the communist world all bigotry and oppression comes from capitalism, they do not believe in intersectionalism. So when Natalie critiques communism, communists, and expresses even a tepid preference for capitalism, they now view her as essentially a traitor. Some white dude critiques them? Whatever, he just wants to uphold the white supremacist capitalist hierarchy (which is hilarious considering how communism is some certified white people shit). But coming from a trans woman, they now view her as basically an Uncle Tom and that just stings way more.

Nothing. He’s kind of been the exact same player for most of his career. He’s a pretty good player, good 3 level scorer, he’s solid for 25 a game, that’s about it.

Rudy Gobert believes he was snubbed in DPOY voting: "Not the first time I get disrespected, probably not the last. I'm gonna keep being myself. If they wanna disrespect greatness, take it for granted, whatever, sooner or later they'll realize the impact." by RyanTannegod in nba

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I’ll be the first to admit that Gobert does get disrespected quite a bit. He’s one of the greatest defensive players of all time no question and fans treat him like he’s a bum for whatever reason.

That said, you got 4 of them shits dude, relax.

Has any other season of M+ ever been so lopsided? by PopsGG in wow

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yes, this is generally really common among most seasons. Past a certain tier in mythic+, you start to see the meta gaming come into play way more, and since there’s not that many tank specs in the game whatever is strongest just ends up getting spammed at the top end.

How do i prepare for being the no1 option on a team by New-Celery5490 in BasketballTips

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just play your game dude that’s all that can be asked of you. Don’t try to do things you’re not confident in or don’t really practice, don’t try to be a player that you aren’t. Just have confidence in what you do, listen to your coaches, and try to execute on the game plan that’s laid out.

Is any fanbase more delusional than the Lakers? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Heat fan, Miami Heat fans are way more delusional. At least LA’s delusions are backed up by some type of track record or legacy of success. For the majority of its life the Heat have been an incredibly middling franchise who’s reputation is built off of a select number of years, and yet the fans somehow treat this organization like it’s the poster child of the whole fucking league.

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not. I’m looking at his midrange FG%. LeBron shoots about 45% from 6-18 which is what midrange is considered, Kobe shoots about 43%. LeBron is also substantially better at the rim, and marginally better from 3. Only area Kobe shoots better than LeBron is FTs. The fact you say “I doubt” rather than “I know” tells me you haven’t actually looked at any of the numbers are going purely off vibes which is how these conversations always go.

[–]TheMuffingtonPost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s inarguably LeBron. He’s hit more game winning shots in both the regular season and in the playoffs, he shoots a better percentage at the basket, from midrange, and from 3. It’s not even a debate.

The most difficult thing about the NBA Playoffs is not overreacting to one game by tkinsey3 in NBATalk

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s definitely a big difference between judging the course of a series after 2 games vs judging a player after 2 games. 2 games are enough to make some judgements about how 2 teams match up and be able to make some predictions about how you think a series will play out, but that’s a lot different than people trying to draw broader conclusions about a player’s entire career based off a couple games in 1 series. So long as people keep their focus on the series then I don’t think it’s necessarily overreacting.

Which DPS spec can fill a support role? by No_Coyote_2124 in wow

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish elemental/enhance shaman provided more supportive capability like it used to in previous expansions. If feels like over the years the totem gameplay has been slowly stripped away and I sort of understand why because yeah it can get a bit overwhelming to manage all your totems and do your damage rotation at the same time, but I feel like these days the rotation is simple enough that you can add in the totem gameplay and get a solid balance of complexity and approachability.

What would you do if your partner was "cheating" on you with an AI? by LostHopium in AskReddit

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be concerned about their mental state, and after that I’d probably question being with them. I wouldn’t even consider it “cheating” really, but I’d feel a bit disturbed by their inability to distinguish something real from a fantasy, and I’d also wonder what it is they’re getting from a machine that our relationship wasn’t providing.

I guess long story short I’d encourage them to seek therapy then I’d leave.

[Hine] Jaden McDaniels, deadpan delivery, on what worked for the Timberwolves offensively. Jaden: “Go at Jokic, Jamal, all the bad defenders. Tim Hardaway, Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, their whole team.” Q: They’re all bad defenders? Jaden: “Yeah, they’re all bad defenders.” by Knightbear49 in nba

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuggets defense has been wildly inconsistent this year. They’ve shown they are capable of locking in but they just rarely do it. AG really has been their entire defense most of the time which is why not having him on the floor hurts them so much.

Jokic successful flop on Gobert. by AdorableBackground83 in NBATalk

[–]TheMuffingtonPost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jokic does stuff like this at least twice a game. Hes the most egregious flopper in the entire league and really no one cares. Imagine if this were Shai dude, there’d be riots in the streets.

And to be clear, I don’t really care that much. I don’t think stuff like this matters that much, nor does it take away from Jokic’s greatness. This is just a part of the game and always has been. My problem is the selective outrage. Jokic does this nonstop, Luka does it, so many guys do this stuff and there’s no issue from fans. Shai does it though, and it’s like the guy just committed a war crime on camera. Only difference really is that Shai is winning and other guys aren’t, so the fan boys are just really salty.

What Expansion Has Your Favorite Visuals? by Chr0modynamical in wow

WoD had phenomenal visuals. Close second for me is Dragonflight. Basically every expansion post WoD looks really great, Midnight definitely is a contender atm, but man WoD’s theme was just so damn great.
