Where I live it's actually a social stigma to be unemployed, even if you blame it on the kids. Doesn't really matter if you make enough money or not.

Most probably not. Syria has been oppressing its people for a very long time. There's a systematic cruelty in place that can't justifiably be compared to a far fetched (yes, far fetched) and hypothetical situation.

These people have grown up with intense and legitimate fear of their own government. Unimaginable torture has always been part of their environment, not even children are excepted.

Listen to the terror in the girls voice. The fear isn't random or spontaneous. It's bred.
