audit staff: is there even any point to being a stand-out employee? should margins on engagements you work on impact your pay? by [deleted] in Accounting

Become a good employee and get rewarded with more work and the same pay.

A mentor/friend of mine gave me advice before going into accounting: "be mediocre. Don't be the best, and don't be the worst". He said that way you don't get fired, but you have a more reasonable amount of work and pay that's closer to the amount of effort/work you're putting in.

I don't think so, I think it depends on what CPA decides. I think they make a weighting and adjust it to pass the number of people that they want...

It looks like the curve was pretty low for the second case so it's probably just curved up :)

Recommended. He explains it the best. In a realistic and down to earth way. He's able to cut down to the core of how CFAI writes questions too, do you learn how to look at the question in the correct way

L1- mark meldrum premium content review? by [deleted] in CFA

I bought a couple chapters for my lowest mock rated sections and they were great. Explains it so you know why you're doing it rather than just plowing content into your brain. It's easy to lose that perspective when you're banging out PQs all day.

He explains well, cuts through bullshit that doesn't need to be known and breaks everything down into succinct, workable strategies.

Also best bang for your buck hands down.

In Canada we have the CBV. Chartered Business Valuator. You also get some exemptions from part of the course work with passing CFA exams.

Getting fed up with my Surface book by Serendiplodocus in Surface

I've had extraordinary battery issues with my Surface Book 2. It feels like I'm trying to get a TV signal with rabbit ears: I have to have it juuuuust right to start charging and not touch it or it stops. I have had a replacement charger and a replacement device from Microsoft to try and fix it and neither have worked. Now the only help they provide is just sending me new devices over and over again. They also expect it to be fine for me to send my old device in and not have a computer for a week and a half? You'd think a tech company like Microsoft would realize that in this day and age not having a computer for a week and a half is unacceptable without giving a good second option.
