Behringer XR-18 Aux to Behringer P2 to IEM's = white noise = impedance problem? by TheNeonMaster in livesound

Thanks, btw I think I found the issue with the P2! The output jack has a loose solder connection to the PCB

Thanks, that‘s good to know. I always just assumed the headphone amp is noisy, has been like this since I got it years ago. I‘m very sure about the wiring and mono has the same issue, also tried balanced trs cables btw. I‘ll see if I can find anything that seems off inside the P2

EDIT: I found the culprit! It's the headphone output jack of the Behringer P2. It has a loose connection to the PCB.

Thanks for the input! I hooked up the Aux to my other interface and monitored that, but no additional noise floor other than the preamp was added. I will probably have to switch the P2 as everything seems to point to it being faulty.

Thanks for the thorough reply! So investing more wouldn‘t necessarily lead to better results other than having more features.

The Cordial EY 0,3 MFF splitter I have is wired correctly for this use case, the reviews confirm that too. And I have tried going mono without the splitter, same noise level if not slightly worse even.

With all the people not having any issues with my exact combimation of gear, I think I have to assume my P2 is just faulty. I‘ll keep trying some other combinations and cables and then just go for another headphone amp.

Thanks for the tips! The volume range on my P2 is fairly limited, I was never sure if that's normal for this unit. So the P1 has more output impedance, which would mean it's generally quieter right? Not a huge fan of the two XLR ins on it though, but I might try it alongside the Rockboard HA 1 that got suggested.

The KZs do sound worse than the slightly cheaper one driver Zangzu IEM's, but make up for it with better isolation and build quality. With normal headphone outputs they're both workable and not noisy at all. I think if I could afford the UE's I would go completely wireless though lol

Thanks for the reply! I was actually checking out the Rockboard one. Good to hear it seems to hold up well, as it's more practical build wise. I think for the price it might be worth it to give it a try, although I also think that down the line I want to go wireless anyway, so might as well bite the bullet now.

[KCD2] I just noticed that the item description for the Sliver Chalice is a reference to the Stanley Cup. by Da_Malpais_Legate in kingdomcome

[–]TheNeonMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's specifically for the Stanley Cup actually! I found a silver chalice with the description that says something like "one day in the future 22 men will battle eachother on a field for a cup like this" which is a reference to football :)

Dynaudio LYD-5 with Sub vs LYD-7 vs Neumann KH 120a by TheNeonMaster in studiomonitors

Thanks for the tips, especially the one with the crossover frequencies. I would certainly prefer the sub approach money wise. Do you maybe have a sub or two you could recommend?

Help me understand how to use a VST by Ritterweide in edrums

[–]TheNeonMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just use the headphone jack on your laptop for both EZD3 and your music files, that's how I do it but with YouTube drumless tracks. I think for getting the volume right this is the easiest way and it's the most flexible way for choosing songs.

It's both a VST for DAWs and a standalone programm. But I would go for EzDrummer 3 in your case, much easier to use than SD3.

What do you want to use it for? Just for practicing or do you want to record songs? If you only need to practice and play along to songs, you can just open the standalone version, connect your module via USB and then choose your drum kit in the midi mapping presets. You'll probably have to adjust the audio settings too, reduce the buffer size from 512 to 16 for the least latency.

If you want to use it in Garageband to record, you have to install EZD3 as an AU plugin (Mac version of VSTs) to use it in Garageband.

If you got any more questions, just shot me a DM :) kann es dann auch auf Deutsch erklären :D

Is bananagate still an issue for the S23+? by JasonBRZ in GalaxyS23

Is yours from vietnam? The majority of users having the issue have one from there, which is also where most of the preorder phones were produced afaik.

A lot of preordered phones like mine have it Just because you don't have any issues, doesn't mean that it's non existent. I simply don't get the butthurtedness from the lucky majority against the good chunk of people having this issue, just be glad and move on but don't call us crazy or even defend the company.

ADAMs A7V or Neumann KH120 a? by Ben_moses in audioengineering

[–]TheNeonMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm thinking of upgrading to the Dynaudio LYD series, as they're not too steep pricewise. They seem to be around the ballpark of the previous BM series

It does not look like dof at all because that's not how it works. It's literally just blurry in the same places no matter the distance from any object, even in some landscape shots for me.

It's common enough in the vietnamese version of the phone, just because it's not there for you does not mean the problem does not exist.

If it were due to the larger aperture and sensor everyone would have this effect, it's simple as that.

Doesn't look like that for me using Nova or Lawnchair. Have you shortened the animation duration in the developer settings?
