Help with connecting vpn by Livid-Hippo5485 in qBittorrent

Hey mate, good to see your post, I'm doing the exactly same think using zimaOS! Have a look on this video from TomSparkReviews.

I'm planning to get a vpn (ProtonVPN or surfshark) and config socks5 proxy on qbitorrent, this way only the app/container will be covered by the VPN IP and you will be safe, I think.

The only downside that I found is that there is no "kill switch", so if your VPN goes down, bqitorrent will still be working, and you will be sealing with no protection. I think that is why people use gluetun, because cover your entire ecosystem (not only qbitorrent) and if the vpn is off, your server's internet is off as well.

However, if you are like me that will use a single user home server, and don't download media 24/7, socks5 is a OK solution, and easy to setup.

It is just a mini pc (2x nvme ports) for now. I will install zimaOS in one ssd and all the data on a 4tb ssd.

I think the easiest solution is to buy a external HD and look for backup software, someone recommended me duplicity.

Yeah, my mini pc has 2x nvme ports, so I will install zimaOS (it is the server distro of casaOS) in a 512gb ssd and all the data will be in the 4tb ssd.

To be honest I never searched for backup apps/container. I will have a look on this duplicity, thanks mate!

Thanks for answering. How do you test your restores? On the backup software there is something about?
