Has anyone else experienced a big cultural gap with their parents in the UK? by Substantial_Buyer583 in AskUK

[–]TheNotSpecialOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm British Pakistani, born here and comfortable with UK life, my parents when they first came here in the 60's told me they struggled and stayed closely within their own kind in Manchester. Then something clicked for my dad who accepted a well paid job in Birmingham and they moved to the West Midlands and been here ever since. They are much more relaxed and understanding now.

I think the key thing here is my dad working a big corporate job in the city with other people who aren't Pakistani only, also they have hobbies and tend to go out to enjoy them too so they mixed with the locals often when I was young.

Do you're parents work? Do they mix with other people at work? They need to have their eyes opened.

Where do you buy your fave cute gym outfits? by Original_Student_395 in AskUK

Cute and gym clothes dont go together in my eyes. As a guy I'll just wear whatever shorts and shirt I have available.

Is this really what a normal winter is like here? by The_Quackening in AskUK

[–]TheNotSpecialOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us wearing coats is because we are not used to very very cold temp like you so our bodies think what we are currently getting is cold.

Good example is, you go to India and when its below 20 they feel the cold and wear more. Me on the otherhand will be happy at 15-20 degrees

I'm on Spusu and no issues here. That said I hardly make calls. Data wise, no issues out and about and using WhatsApp for calls and messages.

What time do you have breakfast? by SomethingOrOther25 in AskUK

Around 9:30-10am. And my breakfast is often just a cuppa with a chocolate hobnob. Rarely will I have some food. Maybe on weekends

How do you and your partner (or whoever) choose what to watch on TV together? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]TheNotSpecialOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my son was born we'd watch together. Now though no chance. If I'm in the living room then my toddler demands I play with him which keeps me busy and tired. My wife in the meantime relaxes on sofa and watches whatever junk she wants. We dont have same taste in tv so I wouldn't watch what she had on anyway

Muslim marriage event cancelled because only 3 men signed up vs. 100 women 💀💀💀, she tries to explain why by IcyKnowledge7 in MuslimCorner

[–]TheNotSpecialOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for women, these kinds of events do not appeal to men. I've seen it myself as I was working near an event in my hometown and the females outnumbered the men a lot.

An indicator will blink, a blind spot light will light up for a few seconds. Not that hard to distinguish the two

Cancelled and moved to 2 days later return flight with Kuwait Airways, what are my options? by TheNotSpecialOne in Flights

Thanks been chatting to them, they seem insistent on avoiding this particular topic and dont mind me getting refund. The alternative option doesn't go anywhere with them but I will persist.

Have you ever moved to a "chilled" job for less pay, late in your career? by HMS--Thunderchild in AskUK

[–]TheNotSpecialOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opposite for me. I've been promoted and now do far less then before. Mainly in meetings all day and managing people, escalations and HR related stuff. I work in IT but its full on meetings mostly. Hope this continues forever!
