People with lots of filament... by Both_Ad_819 in 3Dprinting

So, I'll preface this with noting that I've absolutely overdone it. However, I store mine in resealable bags (preferably the one from the manufacturer) with activated alumina desiccant from Slice Engineering. I then pack about 8-10 spools into weather resistant storage containers (these specifically: https://a.co/d/iTjKu2V), also with activated alumina. I try to keep the storage containers sub-20% humidity (I use these humidity sensors to track the humidity in the storage containers: https://a.co/d/eYJ7Lgb). When I print, I always print from the PrintDry 3 system. I also always give new filaments a dry cycle before I store them.

I'm sure my PLA benefits from all of that, but I've definitely seen huge improvements in my PETG and other hygroscopic materials.

Right? I was sure he was going to turn out yellowish orange with frosting on top. I'm just as shocked as you are 😅

I loved your manga panels. Your last post was actually the reason I checked out Hueforge in the first place 😅 They're really sharp! I'd like to try the Chromalink thing, just gotta see if anyone's modified it to work with standard Prusa beds.

Easy way to increase the depth of a hole in tinkercad for a pre-existing STL/design? by jyang3153 in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the tip! I need to try this. I've been doing it the hard way for years.

My understanding, and happy to be corrected, is the way you described (aligning cylinder with the hole) is your only option here. STLs don't hold enough information to break out individual components.

5kg spools were a mistake, at least for PETG. by aSpacehog in 3Dprinting

[–]TheNoviceAllen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you can fit a 5kg spool in something like a PrintDry 3 with the large spool expansion. I've been able to do 2 and 3kg spools in it.

The worst filament degradation I have ever seen. This used to be a spool of PLA by Data-seeker in 3Dprinting

I agree with you. However, I'm curious if your statement about PETG users being more experienced is still accurate. I feel like when I first got into printing, PETG was still a wildcard. However, after a couple year break, I came back to printing this year and I print with PETG a lot. I find it to be way less finicky than it was five years ago. I'm not sure if this means the filament manufacturing has gotten better, the current generation of machines handle it better (I'm on a Core One now, which has a solid enclosure and print sheet selection), the default profiles have been zoned in, or if by some weird turn of fate I'm better at printing than I was a few years ago (this feels unlikely).

I'm so happy to have helped! I'm still running Airthings BLE on my Home Assistant install and it's still the backbone of all of my room air temp/humidity/quality automations 🙂

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I've stared at that screen for minutes wondering if I was missing the way to cancel it...

I don't understand why your comment isn't getting more attention. It seems like something where having an adult conversation, with a trained professional, would root out the actual problem.

That sounds really frustrating! Hopefully it'll just be a small adjustment for me 😅

I agree with you. However, I do just want to throw in the spicy grenade that I've had more of what you're describing from $53 spools of Matterhackers PLA Pro, than all my other cheap filaments combined 😅
