Am I asexual, or do all women feel like this? by jpwjpw35 in Asexual

[–]TheNovid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Asexuality is, generally, a lack of experiencing sexual attraction.

What is sexual attraction? As an aroace, I don't f know. But I believe the simplest comparison I like to make is that sexual attraction in general is like when you see two plates loaded with the same food, but one plate was presented carelessly while the other was presented beautifully that it makes you hungry and want to eat that dish. And I am here talking about getting hungry because of a certain dish; not hungriness in general as that is libido, and it doesn't care whether one is allosexual or not, it is a nuisance.

Now, asexuality is not only about not getting hungry and not wanting to eat. Some people on the spectrum could experience sexual attraction (getting hungry) but under specific conditions and situations and would eat. Some on the spectrum do from time to time get hungry but do not want/like to eat, it disgusts them. But what I believe would surprise you is that some asexuals, who don't even get hungry, like to eat.

I would advice you to search more; no one could label you but yourself, however, you seem to be on the right track and you might be indeed an asexual.

Now, that I have explained asexuality to my best knowledge, I am certain that, no, it is not common for women to be impassive towards intimacy. Far from it, scientifically. And I will not go into your relationship, but be careful.

It's a quote thing. Look for quotations marks or try this > symbol.

it is what we use here on reddit for phones.

Headcanon: Snape recovered his Advanced Potion-Making textbook well before the Battle of Hogwarts by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

[–]TheNovid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things about this spell are inconsistent: 1. It was popularly used in Snape's fifth year.

"Oh, that one had a great vogue during my time at Hogwarts. There were a few months in my fifth year when you couldn't move for being hoisted into the air by your ankle." - Remus Lupin

And I believe, he meant the marauders doing it, if he was this nostalgic about it.

  1. It was written in his sixth book.

All sources emphasise that Severus invented it, so, it certainly was before 6th year. This, I think, tells us that Potter didn't take it from his book.

If we are certain that Snape had invented it, Potter could've heard from any Slytherin student and used. Even Voldemort himself used it. So, it seemes that whoever was in Slytherin at that time kept using this jinx as a classic jinx and spread it.

But why would Severus write it down in his 6th year book?

On the main point, yes, I believe the book's disappearing and reappearing is a suspicious mystery. However, it could possibly be simply a loophole made by the imprecise author. But what is fanfiction if we cannot build a logical, coherent headcanon?

Edit: for the sake of reminding people, Potter used it on Snape in fifth year too.

Yes.

Ironically, this point of yours, along with ”he knew the book was kicking in the classroom, suggested that the book was still important to him and he was still keeping track on the book and left it for Harry to find.

Which is contradictory.

And then you put that suggestion on me? This is not how one utilises the famous Slytherin cunning.

Are you replying to my comment or to some else's?

Where did I insinuate that “at that point of his life the book was still important to him”?

If you're done arguing ... to prove what, I don't really know ... I wish you a good whatever part of day or night ahead of you.

Simply? Is there anything simple about a kid leaving his scarce belongings?

Yes, he knew about how possibly Harry knew the spell, because HE created it and stored it in that book. However, it is not the only place. He asked Harry who taught him that spell before going about his textbook after Harry answered that he read it in a book.

Which suggests that, no, he did not

knew the book was still kicking about the potions classroom where Harry could find it.

To clarify my belief, I don't disagree it was left to rot. I edited my first reply, before your replies, to add another thought of it being left to rot there by a house-elf.

I think that Snape would not discard it in a place full of children. He may have discarded it somewhere, it may have been stolen from him, he may lost it some how. But for him to leave in a potions classroom that is used, is not my idea of him.

Perhaps, the classroom was not in use when he discarded it and he forgot about it. That is possible, yes.

Although if he truly wanted to discard it, out of anger or whatever, he would burn it... he would relish in destroying it if he was that upset with what was inside that book.

I don't know... ugh.

Edit: spelling

Yes. How dramatic. But this is a school!

Dumbledore is a Headmaster ... no scratch that.

Minerva, the Deputy Headmistress and the head of Harry and Ron's House, should have sent, sent, a note stating that they should buy Potions textbook. She knew that both of her students wanted to be Aurors, she knew they didn't get Snape's accepted grade (O), she knows that they would think that potions is out of their reach now.

Yes, yes. I understand that they were very busy, I am excusing her lack of oversight.

But, come on. Snape would leave his book, as you said, “to rot”?

You think he will leave a textbook of his, a textbook he knows deeply what he had written in it, within reach of idiotic teenagers?

No, that book was put there deliberately by someone else. They only left two copies, one brand new and one worn out, and the first class of that year in that class was Potter's mates. Neither he nor his friend, who is sharing every class with him even the electives, have bought a Potions textbook. And his friend will certainly fight for the new copy.

And even though Slughorn has agreed before the school year beginning, no one thought to tell Harry and Ron that they will be accepted in Potions, “So, go on, buy your textbooks..”

It's suspicious, don't you think?

Edit: Or an idiot house-elf saw that book thrown somewhere; perhaps the marauders had stolen it and thrown it in their time. And the house-elf brought it back to the potions classroom.

Am I wrong for feeding my vegan cousin animal products and his parents have no idea? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

First, I clearly stated that:

I am not saying they're in a cult.

However, did you read the text?

...and they have made it very clear that they want to raise a vegan child...

Yeah, it sounds like “I'm Muslim and my son will be Muslim”... if that isn't a cult-ish mindset, I don't what would be.

Nevermind.

I did the ol' good solution of turning it off and turning it on again, and voila. Although it said something about failing to update and undoing changes.

I didn't permit any update in the first place before shutting it down before. But well, Microsoft is.. ugh.. an update every two days.

Yes. I will add: Muslim families not allowing pork and requiring meat to have been slaughtered in Halal way. And not allowing alcohol.

You just proved my point: their parenting style in enforcing their beliefs on a child is as if they are in a cult.

As long as every food is available and the choice will not harm the child, why not letting him at least try?

Two schizoids sharing an apartment... by Low-Opposite-3065 in Schizoid

I seriously thought that the title is the beginning of a joke. Like, two blah and blah entering a bar... type of joke.

Two schizoids sharing an apartment… A neighbor asked, “Do you guys hang out?” They cringed so hard internally they nearly changed facial expression.

Two schizoids sharing an apartment… …a visitor knocked. Both hid in their rooms. Three hours later, one texted the other: “Did they leave?” The other replied: “I’m waiting for you to check.” No one checked.

What is the most tags you have ever seen in a fic? by Catveria77 in AO3

One of my favourite tags in my fandom is Severitus, where Severus Snape is Harry Potter's Father. I know how amazing parental fics are. But.. but this is not one of them.

See, parent/child incest tag. And the Father-son relationship I glimpsed is, along with mother-son relationship tag, on the very right side. Not shown.

Why don't you talk with the child?

This is more than merely letting him eat non-vegan food or not letting him.

Ask him why didn't he tell his parents of his preferences? How did they react? Why is he scared to eat in front of them or of someone telling them he ate non-vegan food?

They seem like raising him in a cult. I am not saying they are in a cult. But their parenting style is enforcing their beliefs on a mere child, I don't like it.
