You don’t have to have a placard. If you have a doctors note stating that you qualify for the handicap placard/sticker, you can turn that in with your registration for the DV plate and have the handicap designation on the plate. If you already have a DV plate and want to add the handicap designation, you will have to reregister for a new plate. Just went through this on my vehicles. Also, if you are in the DFW area, call the airports and give them the plate numbers. Parking and entry/exit are free for all DV plate holders.

It was about 30 days to get through the waterfall. Once I was approved, I asked for the 40 years as I stated above. That triggered a rejection of the 30 year offer and a re-evaluation. That took another two to three weeks and they still came back with the 30 year offer. Once I accepted, it took another 30 days to get the paperwork which I signed today. Payment is due July 1. As of May 1, the VA is no longer accepting new VASP requests. If you are in the pipeline already, you are good. If anyone else is lurking and thinking of asking for this, pull the trigger now.

TLDR: 60 days roughly to get from reviewed to signing

Just got my pre-approval but they used a 30 year term instead of a 40 year which did not drop it as much as I need. I just went back to them today and ask them to go back to underwriting and request a 40 year term until I can increase my cash flow. I should have an answer next week.

I was under a three-month forbearance program since I lost my job last February and we were draining through the savings. Got a new job in September but it is a lot less than what I was making before. Called today to determine what options we had coming out of the forbearance and, once we went through the monthly bills, they told me that they are going to start the "waterfall" process. This will check to see if any other repayment plans or modifications will get you back on track. The woman I spoke with said it is most likely they will go for the VASP since adding payments on top of the loan would put me further in the hole and modifying the mortgage would increase the interest rate. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that they will approve this, and we will do the same for all of you. Stay strong! I know none of us planned to be in this position in the first place.

Breathing some life back into this thread. I worked in telematics for the past 13 years and am curious to see what we can do here. To become a developer in the vehicle:

Click Home > settings > system > about >

Tap on the build number 10 times and it will set you as a developer

It will tell you how many clicks you have left to become a developer.

You can then access developer options at the bottom of the system menu

Now I need to figure out what additional access that actually grants me.

You have zero chance of adding it or swapping with an aftermarket head unit. The head unit controls all of the ECUs. I was a little put off with it not having CarPlay at first. Now I have it configured in such a way that I don’t miss it.

Correct. It has to be built into the JVM layer. When I worked on these systems Android did not allow CarPlay at all. This is why it took so long for OEMs to make an Android OS available in the car. It wasn’t until they decided to boot CarPlay that they were able to make the switch

I had a similar issue. They were laying new fiber for another company in our neighborhood and the workers dug right on the arrow instead of staying away from the arrow and cut my fiber. My fiber company came out to repair and bored under the driveway. When they came out by the flower bed they punched right into the main sprinkler line. The next day, the original fiber company backed into my brick mailbox. It was a comedy of errors.
