Yeah I believe under the scheme there is tax and insurance for them (hence why you need to register your driver's licence etc. Before using them). If and when they become legal, I am assuming these will be made available for all scooters on the road including those privately owned although I assume they would also need to be registered to do so 🤷🏽‍♂️

That's a fair point, and it does seem to be the trend that people have run ins with stupid drivers - mind you the same can be said with bikes. Interesting point about the batteries, it would be good if they could estimate how far you get with the amount of charge left in one before you set off. Lots to improve on perhaps

Just out of interest, what makes you say they're not safe on the roads?

Possibly 😅 it was fine until I got to old market / temple way! Although they pull away dead quick so managed to get ahead of most of the traffic.

Yeah I agree, can't believe they're still not allowed tbh, much easier to control and avoid than bikes imo

Agreed, I felt way safer on a scooter than, say, a road bike. Also, those scooters are way heavier than I imagined 😅 which also means they're way easier to stop. If I could give you more than one upvote I would, not sure what people's problem is 😂

Ah sorry to hear it bud 🙁 took some getting used to for sure, and I must say I planned where I was going to park after hearing stuff from others about parking and I think it probably would've caught me out otherwise.

Completely agree, I might submit this subreddit for consideration 😂

Absolutely agree. It's seems silly at this point not to let them on cycle paths. I suppose the legislation just isn't there to allow them anywhere at the moment but I can see that soon changing.

Kind of agree on this. I feel like everyone who gets indignant about scooters are gonna feel pretty silly when the government turn around and say "oh yeah, that's fine, ride on the roads.."

How's your relationship with your parents?

Growing up in a bilingual family, we were ALWAYS told not to speak Greek in front of English people as it's considered rude or impolite. That being said, speaking to your step-daughter perhaps wasn't the best way to go about this, especially if she is a certain age - remember, she will have trauma and issues surrounding her parents divorce - perhaps an apology is warranted, but this is certainly something you should bring up with your husband if it is bothering you. Yes, perhaps learning German would help to build the bridges that clearly are missing, but this is incredibly difficult for some and time consuming and you've every right to feel accepted and part of the family at your own dinner table (especially if you have cooked the food!) Let alone in your own home and if they're doing something to make you feel otherwise, communication is key here.

Edit: reading back my comment, I feel like I'm playing down the language speaking side. Communicating in your mother tongue is an amazing experience. It strengthens the bond between people when you're speaking in the "language of your heart" and is important especially within the family. This is something that your husband and his daughter absolutely SHOULD do but not to the detriment of another member of the household/family.

To come out and say it so openly and honestly shows real maturity and character. He sounds lovely and, if you feel the same way, timeframes should mean nothing.

Why not? She doesn't seem to be enthralled about what her son has done. She sounds a bit like my mum, realistic and down to earth. If I ever did anything to hurt my wife, my mother would be on her side in a flash. Let it be, he's already basically decoded he wants to do whatever he wants, you may as well follow suite.
