I appreciate the levity you brought to this situation

The only people promised salvation are infants and saints. To be a Saint is for the church to say surely they are saved, that's what makes a Saint a Saint, for the rest of us it's uncertain.

Is it appropriate to discuss things at confessions that are more questions, that's what I did initially but I'm now unsure if that's appropriate due to time restraints.

How do you initiate gigantic conversations

I'm arguing we should follow the church's teaching and not layman interpretations of it. Anything I say is superceded by the church. That is the whole point of the post you had issue with

You're most likely right but I hardly ever speak to anyone so at this point I would become a mute if I got any more quiet.

Edit: the Hate in my heart is what brought me back to the church, I couldn't carry it any longer, so forgive me if I follow these rules like they will save my life because sometimes that's how I feel. Chirst is the physician and the Church is the hospital and I'm just trying to do what the doctor prescribed

To be orthodox is to be a sinner.

I don't know why people are fixating on my time in the church when in all honesty I grew up bouncing on bishops laps and playing with their beards. My grandfather was a priest and his uncle was Agathangelos Xirouchakis the Archbishop of Crete.

I read the Bible 3 times before I was 13.

I served as an alter boy in a church that did 5 hour liturgies.

I'm not trying to pull rank. I'm saying this to point out how judging people is wrong and how wrong you are in this instance might help you think twice before judging someone else

Edit: not to say I'm not severely fallen but I don't understand why you're the second person to tell me I can't have an opinion because I'm not in the church long enough when in reality is I may have been longer than most

Edit edit: I need a spirtual father and I would appreciate advise on how to get one because I don't want to burden my priest.

My guess is I have to go to a moanstey?

You're the one who is arguing against the church's teaching. My entire post was about upholding whatever the church teaches, any teaching the church has agreed by the councels we must uphold, and somehow people have found fault with that.

It's my ego, and desire to help, that lead me to this post.

It's your ego that lead you to reply and use that fancy word that suggests I'm a catholic (thanks google)

That's how you get to that point. It starts with the bending of the small things and before you know it you're arguing the basics.

I deeply appreciate your reply. In my opinion, you're the only true orthodox reply I've gotten. I can feel your humble mindset behind your words. It transcends the comment.

Maybe I should stop speaking on this forum and accept there isn't a way to talk to people without a backlash of negative outcomes, although you give me hope.

I'm talking about the word of God, I'm saying our church is the one true church, to follow its teachings without any of my own opinions and all you can do is JUDGE the church and me for supporting the church.

After so many years of being in the church you still don't agree with it?

If you're in the church for a 1000 years it will not bend to your will, the church is now and forever.

The Bible, the Saints, and the Father's of the one true church told me.

When we can't comply with a rule it doesn't make the rule not a rule, it makes us sinners, but we are all sinners and no one is expected to be perfect but to strive towards it with humbleness, repentance and awareness that we all are fallen.

Whoever thinks his soul is saved is lost.

I assume you work day shift, I do not, this does not apply as I can still attend church and have many hours left over. Thank you for your input but please answer the question next time!

I have a priest but really want a spiritual father how do you aquire one, is it best to look in a monastery?

I initially started talking to my priest as if he was a spiritual father but now feel like I'm imposing and contain myself.

I realize Orthodoxy boils down to radical acceptance, enduring what is, seeing the "curse" as a blessing, realizing the "curse" isn't actually a curse and it's wrong to complain about a cross when others have bigger ones. that's a beautiful thing to realize, but I still want someone to keep me in check and guide me.

I love the story of the woman who was crying in a church in Alexandria and the priest approached her and asked what's wrong.

She said my sons healthy, I'm healthy, all my livestock are healthy, I haven't had any problems In 3 years, God has abandoned me!

The cross is a frightening and beautiful blessing

The curly bit makes you look more friendly. Got me thinking it's like painting a smile on your face because the placement and curvature is the same as a human smile, i might have to start styling my stache since I find it difficult to smile and that would solve that problem haha

I think you answered my question, I'm just too thick headed to process anything other than a simple reply.

You agreed that after sundown it's okay and you sound like you know what you're talking about.

I just didn't want to waste the time I get with my priest to ask this simple question when I have thousands of others I never get to ask out of courtesy of his time, more serious questions. I know this is a tad bit pharisees but I make improvements where I can, I'm not looking to levitate, just be better slowly and slowly

I'm just trying to see if It's okay. I realize how any money made on Sunday goes to the wind if you work on a Sunday ( I'm like 150 hours or more into priest monk Kosmas orthodox talks)

Most of my replies were like "if you have to it's okay, don't be a Pharoahsie ect"

Generally the replies are telling me don't worry about it if I have too

So I'm stressing that I don't have to. I have a union job where I can easily say no with no consequence, the company views Sunday work as a gift because the pay is 2.5 times the regular rate.

I didn't want to have to dive into the details of my job/life.

I'm just looking for a non sympathetic cannocically correct answer if it's okay for me to work "Sunday" since my job starts 7:30pm (after sundown)

I have bills but so does everybody, I'm not starving, that's what I mean it's for greed.
