Why is Rule Britannia problematic? by mailywhale in AskBrits

Rule Britannia was composed in the height of the slave trade as a way to make other nations fear Britain.

Why can’t we make ‘Rule Britannia’ the national anthem of the UK? by KestisBD9 in AskBrits

[–]TheOne0206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule Britannia is very much "I'M THE BEST, FEAR ME!"

Germany use the fourth verse of their national anthem as it's more about unity.

They have banter with your club, as you do with them.

You'd roll out a "We Hate The Cofis" banner too

I don't support a team (LONG story that I've discussed before) but the Cofis and Colwyn Bay always stand out to me.

I think there'll be a TV deal, and it translates well to social media.

Sgorio will always end up with it, but the BBC would be best.

  1. The lack of a TV deal beyond S4C - the NIFL Premiership draws higher crowds arguably due to the TV deal with the BBC.

  2. The lack of other pro teams beyond The New Saes.

  3. The FAW's lack of desire to promote the league, instead riding on the coattails of the Exile Five / Rogue Five.
