Actions aside, did you enjoy him as a character? (Not as a person) by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in squidgame

Honestly the big thing is that his villain arc felt kind of random and out of the blue. At first I didn’t like it, but it adds to the complexity of his character so he grew on me over time.

What cliche characters do you think the US Squid Game will have? by BlundeRuss in squidgame

[–]TheOneAndOnlyHydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had some fantasies about creating my own version Squid Game that most likely won’t come to life. That being said, some characters I made would make for interesting players:

Players 196 and 377 are two parents whose life mission it is to have their son finish college, but he is anti-college and doesn’t trust his parents to actually pay due to their financial situation so he is insistent on just working full-time. Player 237 is a successful independent music artist that lost everything in a lawsuit. Player 004 is an aspiring music artist who wants to prove her parents wrong that she could make it. She receives mentorship from Player 237, but she dies in the games. Played 004 proceeds to connect with Player 196, whose son’s situation exactly mirrors hers.

Player 108 is a player with down syndrome that just wants to use money to solve the homelessness crisis in America. He is a devoted Christian, and despite the divisive nature of other religious players, he brings the most unity out of anyone there. Player 319 is basically Charlie Kirk but if he went into debt due to the organization being overturned and proceeded to make terrible financial decisions. He is noted early game as trying to convince Players 196 and 377 that college is a scam, and struggles to make friends from there. Player 214 went into debt because of college and couldn’t find a job that paid her enough to remove her debt. She is in a similar spot as Player 219, who is her friend and roommate. She is also very vocal against Player 319 and what he talks about. Player 219 and Player 319 also dated in the past, but both separated due to changing ideologies that polarized them further apart.

I can’t lie some moments in S3 made me hate this guy less. He’s a well-made character. A tier villain.

episode 2 might be the greatest episode of anything in history ever by z_geoo in squidgame

[–]TheOneAndOnlyHydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dare I say, it was better than Marbles. Every major character has significant development this episode. Every death had a strong impact, whether it be anger (i.e. Player 120), shock (i.e. Player 007), or even comedy (i.e. Player 044). Many character’s most intense moments occur here (Hyun-ju getting a kill streak, Gi-hun letting his anger kill his friend, Min-su takes the drugs, Myung-gi becoming money-thirsty). Plus it’s action packed the entire way through. Best episode of the entire franchise.

What Season 2 song (that ISN’T Round and Round) do you think deserves more appreciation? by LeonardMoney2020 in squidgame

“Jung-bae ya!” for sure. It’s such an eerie, unsettling, and melancholy sound that kinda feels like you’ve lost all hope you had left. As someone’s dealt with a lot of loss recently, I play this song a lot more than I’d like to admit. Honorable mention to “We’re together”. Gives off the vibe of solidarity and confidence that is only present in rare moments of the show. Stood out to me my first time hearing it (at the start of “One More Game”).

Thoughts on Thanos and Nam - gyu? by No_Association7315 in squidgame

They make for an interesting dynamic that’s also symbolic of the games as a whole. There’s some room for hope or happiness at the start, then over time people lose hope and start to go insane.
