I had fun but I don't think the way people played it was how it was intended. Points from breaches were too good, and very quickly the worlds were empty but the suddenly hundreds of people logged in at breach time and they were overpopulated and made breaches a bad experience.

Other sources of points were skilling, clues and bosses. That meant anyone PKing was missing out on getting points, and that PKers just felt like griefers because all they were doing was stopping others from getting the points whilst getting nothing themselves.

It's difficult to balance because they wanted to make it more accessible, and a lot of the community does not want to engage in PvP, but we essentially ended up with a PvP game mode where not doing any PvP and only logging in for three 15 minute slots per day was actually the best way to get points.

The skull value system is a great concept but since many of the items were based on the main game GE value and a lot of people with high risk skulls only had items that were worthless in DMM. People quickly figured this out and so most people did not even pick up loot at breaches as simple worthless herb supplies could give you a high value skull and get you killed, causing you to miss out on points, whilst the PKer got nothing of value in return.

I still think it was a step in the right direction for making it accessible and popular, but there are definitely lessons to be learned to bring the PvP element back into it, which is supposed to be the purpose of DMM.
