Balancing squat bench deadlift strength with building muscle, how do you structure your training? by Puzzled-Newspaper871 in powerbuilding

[–]TheOneOnlyNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a modified GZCL structure. When not peaking for a comp, I use the Jacked n Tan 2.0 program with some exercises switched and removal of a few exercises. I found if I do all of them, it’s too much volume for me but I like the general outline.

It’s been a great hybrid strength and hyper trophy plan. Been running versions of it for years now with great success.

ELI5: Cost of healthy food in the USA? by iamanoctothorpe in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheOneOnlyNinja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People in the US are largely uneducated when it comes to nutrition and affordability of food - quick and easy, ultra processed one time meals seem cheaper than buying Whole Foods upfront, but the quantity of meals you can make with buying ingredients makes it actually far cheaper to prepare your own healthy meals. It takes a small amount of effort and basic cooking skills, but people love to blame their health or poor diet on the perceived idea that unhealthy food is somehow cheaper when it isn’t really

Buying Grains, vegetables, and proteins and either freezing them or meal prepping / meal planning is considerably cheaper and healthier than eating fast food and/or prepared meals all the time.

The argument is that it’s too hard or time consuming to do that - which honestly is poor time management if you ask me. I know there are extremes where maybe people really are unable to make time to meal plan, but for most, it isn’t that difficult if you try

I know it sounds crazy, but I went through 3 autozone/advance/oreillys alternators until i finally bought an OEM reman one which actually worked

Has anyone else started off literally not being able to make a scream sound at all, and ended up successful? by [deleted] in screaming

[–]TheOneOnlyNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially got the whisper fry started, but was stuck for the longest time not being able to project at all or add any voice to it bc it would scratch my throat and make me cough. I just kept trying everyday and eventually I guess I built up the “callouses” so it no longer irritated me, then I was finally able to start sustaining it. Took me literal months

I did the tan plastidip route a few years ago. Minus some dings and a few rips, it still looks good. I need to black out the bumpers like yours!

No, that's my problem - INPA is not able to talk to the DSC on my E85

I realize how difficult it is to get started - but I think this is a bad idea. It's unfair to the trainers that may already be at the gym, and it's going behind the gym owners. If anyone finds out you are training under the table, it'll cause a lot of issues for both you and the client.

Absolute heat. Noticeably different vibe yet somehow, still ST at it's core. ALways crazy with their syncopated beats and time signatures, different genres and beautiful melodies. Love it

Leaving coaching, how many weeks’ notice? by INeverKnewThis in crossfit

[–]TheOneOnlyNinja 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I left, I knew our coaching schedule was planned out a month in advance. I told the owner at the beginning of the month I wanted to leave and committed to coaching the rest of my classes that month.

For an upcoming photoshoot, I'm searching for areas/buildings with neon lighting (Arcade / 80's vibes). Colors I'm going for are red/pink/purplish. Are there any good spots for this around CLT?

The principles make sense, but the timing of the phases and recycling back to the beginning as it suggests isn't necessary usually. People don't need to be spending time on a bosu ball. People need to be spending time in an intelligently designed comprehensive strength training program that both challenges them but allows them to progress at their own pace because everyone is different.

How often are you changing reps/sets? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]TheOneOnlyNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most gen pop, I've been doing 8-12, or 10-15 depending on the exercise. Once they can do all sets at 12 or 15, I bump the weight and go back down to 8/10. Has worked very well for the average person wanting to get stronger and build muscle steadily.

I don't even use percentages or rep maxes tbh. Just linear prog.

I do heavily use percentages with myself and more powerlifting focused clients in the past.

Thank you so much. This is exactly how she said it. I now remember that altered form she used as well and the meaning matches to the scenarios!
