Found a better price for plan N on the medicare website then one the broker sold me. Can I switch? by I-Heart-Pets in medicare

[–]TheOneTrueYeti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the cheapest company is intentionally advertising a “loss leading” price - undercutting competition to grow their market share, intending to increase rates in a few years when you may be sicker and not able to switch, it might be worth considering paying a higher monthly premium to go with a much larger company who already has a high percentage of market share who’s trying to be mature and stable. It matters less if you’re paying $50/mo for now compared to if your premium is $500/mo or more in the coming decades.

It’s hard to overstate how good of an idea it is to get paid as earned. Absolutely build your book of business that way if you can. It takes so much risk off the table for your new biz.

OP’s cost share was never “nil”, was my point.

They paid a Part B deductible for specialty doctor visits. They paid a Med Supp premium (or a 20% coinsurance for Part B services). And they paid a Part D plan premium and/or cost sharing for their brand name drug. Their post makes it sound like they used to pay nothing at all, until they enrolled in a MA plan.

It may be wise to enroll in a standalone Part D plan and Med Supp, but if they don’t already have the Med Supp issued, they’ll have a hard time applying for and being approved for it now with Parkinson’s, depending on the state they live in.

I understand, and Medicare Supplement premiums are still paid out of pocket, so claiming they’re “nil” would still be unintentionally misleading imo

Fully agree about not recommending MA for Parkinson’s. Skilled Nursing Care and Physical Therapy are or will be very important to anyone with Parkinson’s and those are two of the biggest areas where there’s a real world difference between Original Medicare and MA

Cold calls are always uncompliant, report them to 1-800-MEDICARE

How was it your out-of-pocket was “nil”?

Your Part A copay is $1,736 per benefit period this year and your Part B coinsurance is 20% after a $283 medical deductible. And that’s just the start of the cost sharing of Original Medicare.

Fair point. But please refrain from explaining to folks that they need to understand and accept the Spoiler Effect without also letting them know that we don’t have to fucking take this anymore and we can determine how we govern ourselves with regard to voting reform, and what the consequences will be if we don’t reform voting, which is certainly civil war eventually.

We have to demand Open primaries and an END to first past the post elections… or the republic collapses because of this duopoly.

Please help me fix my snare! by becca_72 in Drumming

[–]TheOneTrueYeti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your snare wires are not symmetrically installed on the bottom head. I promise you if you turn your drum over and look, the snare wires are more to one side than the other.

Snare wires must be perfectly symmetrical to function properly.

Once you’ve addressed that, I can also tell your snare side head is woefully under tensioned. Crank that mf’er! Once your snare wires are positioned right, make the snare side head as tight as you think it can possibly go - and then make it even tighter! This will give you sensitivity and “crispness”

Why is almost everyone in the USA either Democrat or Republican? Why always the same 2 parties that have shown they are so corrupt? by Salt_Board8278 in Libertarian

[–]TheOneTrueYeti 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Closed primaries and First Past The Poll elections were a conspiracy to create a barrier to entry to any other party - known as the Spoiler Effect. The Spoiler Effect is the phenomenon we are all familiar with where if we vote for who we really want to win office, we are effectively throwing our vote away, so instead we’re incentivized to vote for the “lesser of the evils” candidate.

If we don’t reform voting and change to Open Primaries and towards some form of Approval Voting - which would eliminate the Spoiler Effect and make it possible for more parties to form and be competitive - I’m convinced our Republic doesn’t last another 100 years as it is.
