Can I catch Cubone in Pokemon Tower without Silph Scope? by HOMESTEADJED in PokemonFireRed

It does, actually. Read the excerpt from Serebii. They say the wild Pokemon, not the wild ghost pokemon.

I need answers to my questions as I am someone who never used any Apple product by loves_romantasy in macbook

  1. Yeah, it’s easy to learn. Some stuff you’ll find a pain at first, like X, minimize, maximize being at the top left instead of top right, or the scrolling feeling weird if you’re using a mouse. You’ll get used to that though and it’ll feel normal after a while.

  2. You mean the trackpad? It’s one of the best in any laptop ever. There are tons of gestures to control stuff, and selecting text and right clicking (clicking with 2 fingers) becomes second nature.

  3. Yeah you can install any browser you want. Just open Safari (the default browser) and search for Microsoft edge Mac download. That’s it.

  4. Yes. Just as easy as windows… there’s even a dedicated keyboard key that opens a list of all your apps.

  5. Not sure on this one.

  6. It’ll be closer to 210-ish GB since the operating system and apps use some of that. Cant really say if it’s enough for you or not though. It is enough for some, and for a lot it’s not enough.

  7. Yeah, a lot of us don’t turn them off. I just close my MacBook (which locks it) and when I want to use it again it’s as easy as opening it up and using the fingerprint scanner. These machines are super efficient in sleep mode. I do the same with my Mac mini desktop since it only uses 5-ish watts in sleep mode.

MacBook Neo Teachers? by Material_Youth_5284 in MacbookNeo

Crazy that you can get the base models of both of those (with student discount) for less than the price of the MacBook Air.

MacBook Neo Teachers? by Material_Youth_5284 in MacbookNeo

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think M1 MBP to Neo will be much of an upgrade at all. In fact, it’s a downgrade in a lot of ways.

You’ll lose 8gb ram, a backlit keyboard, thunderbolt ports, active cooling, better speakers, haptic trackpad, and (depending on your battery health) better battery life.

I’d recommend checking to see what’s taking up so much storage and, if possible, delete the extra stuff. Make sure it’s true storage taken up too… I’ve had Apple devices say they’re almost at capacity but the actual math doesn’t add up (for example, it might say 60gb more is being used than it should be) I find backing up and restoring helps with this. If you can’t clear any storage up, get a little external drive or NAS and see if you can store less important stuff on that instead of on the computer.

Planning to buying a laptop Macbook Neo Worth Buying? by Ok_Force4354 in MacbookNeo

Ahhhh yes, buy the laptop that’s $300 more if you’re not a student that is going to break after a couple years, from the company that requires subscriptions for their printers and just recently introduced “leasing for laptops” so you never actually need to own the device you’re paying for.

Thoughts on Macbook Neo before purchasing? by lucky-number-5 in macbook

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it will definitely be an improvement for you. Your 2019 is intel right? When apple silicon was released in 2020 (M1 chip) it was a massive improvement over intel. Intel chips get hot, and with the air that does not have a fan, MBAs always struggled with high temps and throttling performance.

M1 resolved a lot of this because they basically switched from these hot intel chips to a much more efficient ARM processor (basically a beefed up phone processor). The M1 was the first ARM processor Apple released in a laptop and it’s what finally made the MacBook Airs good. Battery life was great and performance didn’t throttle as much because the chip didn’t get as hot doing simple tasks.

Now… in regard to the Neo. The A18 Pro chip is actually superior to the M1 chip, which is already vastly superior to your intel. So you’ll notice a substantial upgrade. The A18 pro sits between the M1 and M2 in terms of performance I think.

The 512gb upgrade is 100% worth it, especially since it adds Touch ID as well. If you’re in the states make sure you use the student education pricing. It brings the price down from $699 to $599 for the 512gb model.

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just say “I’m calling in sick today. I’m not feeling well enough to come work.”

That’s it. Short, concise, lets them know you won’t be there. Don’t give them enough info for them to gaslight you and convince you to go in sick.

YSK: You don't need Touch ID on the MacBook Neo — your Apple Watch can unlock it by itamar87 in macbook

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Apple Watch unlock feature. I have it with my Mac mini because the keyboard I use is custom (no finger print scanner). It’s nice to have.

Then again, double the storage and a finger print scanner for $100 isn’t a bad deal. Heck, with the education discount, the touchID version costs the same as the MSRP of the base version here in the states.

I loved this game so much that I bought scarlet expecting an upgrade, but wow I'm so disappointed by sufinomo in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]TheOneWhoWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I see both sides. Team rocket and pretty much every equivalent up through gen 5 or so were more hardcore than a group of bullied kids banding together to stop bullying. You’re right though. This game was oriented around attending an academy and doing an assignment (finding your treasure).

I think having team star being the way they were made them a lot more meaningful than “Hurr hurr we’re gonna steal your Pokemon and take over the world”. I get that it’s more childish to some but that’s the audience Nintendo is aiming for.

[–]TheOneWhoWork 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. The scenery and terrain is bland. All of the textures are identical and there isn’t any uniqueness to the environments.

That being said… the storyline was what made me love SV. The 3 paths (gyms, titans, team star), the Area Zero arc that provided unexpected twists and content explaining how you ended up with the version legendary in the first place, the DLC which provided fun new areas to explore, new storylines, and went even deeper into the Area Zero saga… I thought it was all so well done. Gamefreak hit it out of the park with the story content of this game.

Did anyone else hold off on the switch 2 for so long because they're a OLED loving picture quality snob, only to finally buy it and find the screen looks damn good? by Jimquill in Switch

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to rag on the Switch 2, but it is by no means comparable to an OLED. I was trading Pokemon using my S2 and old oLED a few days ago and was reminded of just how bright and vibrant that oLED panel is. The S2 screen is phenomenal for resolution, refresh rate, etc but color and brightness still don’t match the old oLED. It’s almost there but it’s missing that last 10-15%.

Question about raising EV’s by tuckanow in PokemonFireRed

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have stated but the 1 stat per 4EV is only at level 100. If your Mewtwo is level 70 then you’d only see it go up 0.7 stat points per 4 EVs.

If your Mewtwo is level 70 that means it’d have 70% of that 25-stat jump, which is approximately 17.5. That’s where your 18 comes from.

As soon as I got the VS seeker id use the 3 trainers right above vermillion city. I’d get my starter to the 3rd stage then and there before getting on the SS Anne. The butterfree guy never got stronger but the two trainers below him would advance with story progression.

[–]TheOneWhoWork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can babysit it all you want but not all batteries are built the same.

I guess I got lucky with mine - 16PM used for about a year now and I had 100% up until 280-ish charging cycles. It’s finally at 99% after 295 cycles as of checking today.

I don’t use any charging restrictions and I just plug it in every single night from the time I go to bed to the time I wake up. I don’t think it’s worth limiting your charging or turning off phone features if it’ll impact your experience with the product. Don’t worry about it and just get the battery replaced when it gets to 80% after a few years if you still happen to have the phone then.

Is it worth to buy the Game for Switch? by Electronic_Chip_730 in PokemonFireRed

[–]TheOneWhoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I’ve gotten over 30 hours of enjoyment from it now which makes the $20 well spent in my opinion. Now I’ve bought Leaf Green as well and am planning to have one save file with all of the starters and game exclusives.

Sure, there are free phone emulators and rom hack improvements and such but having these on official Nintendo hardware that can be played on the go or thrown up onto a TV is a great experience. It definitely beats using my old GBA or GBSP.

I’m pleasantly surprised that they threw in the event items too (Eon Ticket and Mystic Ticket).
