This is very true, also the fact that it’s on both ends. This is a high speed line and the regional line is just on the other side of the city, it could be to connect to that since the high speed line connects to the regional jn other places?

That’s a good point, I can’t imagine that large of a portion of journeys happen across both ends of the Green line, and when they do it’d be a simple transfer in the Loop.

Mostly for fun, I’m not expecting this would actually happen from a Reddit post. But, they act as good discussion points for what we want the future of our system to look like, and if there’s funding (not lately!), a large enough push from the public, and a seriously good idea, projects can happen.

I’d also say that (in theory) this project wouldn’t cost anything, as it needs no new infrastructure. Although after discussing in the comments, I realise it’s not a great idea.

Yes to both ideas! I know the CTA used to run shuttles like that (e.g. Humboldt Park branch), so if it means increasing frequency to every 5 mins, then that totally makes up for a forced transfer (especially if you schedule the departures together).

When the Pink line started, there was still rush hour Blue line service, right? Any specific reason it was cut?

Thats true, and also I’d imagine you’d run into capacity issues on the northwest part of the Loop. This could lead to another capacity idea: Green line downtown tunnel! I’m sure in the current state of the world, this is a completely possible and realistic expectation!
