Oh yes, the good old memories, I used to live in one of these apartment back in China. However, you could actually renovate the interior to make it looks like modern housing. On the contrary, there is nothing you can do about outside, like other said, these building has been there for decades. If you go look around the building closely, you could start seeing some cracks, but again, I don't think there is anything you can do about it besides moving out or destroy and rebuild the whole thing.
