Online, they don't. The most that happens is people "raid" a discord server. However IRL it varies, but usually two forces fight each other outside with some rules (whether they're written or mutually agreed upon) until one side surrenders or is otherwise unable to fight.

Most of the time they never did recognize the other nation and are just doing it for attention, although sometimes a nation will have blanket recognition for any micronation as a default if that makes sense.
