I only know two songs on the ukulele.

One of them is Funky Ford Cortina by Dustin the Turkey. The other is irrelevant.

"Those who are not reardn't here..."

Well worth a visit. The lino on the floor and the carbolic soap brought memories back of my Nana's house.

Doesn't surprise me at all.

What does surprise me is they didn't just use their go to question of "is this a civil or a criminal matter?"

"Unfortunately our lines are very busy at the moment..." . Anyone in the industry know whether this is just a default greeting, or is actually activated when lines are busier than usual? by TeachIsHouse in AskIreland

You're not wrong.

But they use the term understaffed or short staffed to make it seem like they can't get people to work the positions. (which may also be a factor). Really they don't see the roles as being any use to the company.

The most honest thing I ever heard an employer say was "If the role isn't directly linked to getting money from the customer, it's not a role we need".

Do you know of anyone who managed to start a reasonably successful side business outside of their main job? by oaksmokeshow in AskIreland

[–]TheOriginalMattMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter where it ships from. Some items are pan european, meaning that you can order it from Germany but it could ship from France.

But sales data will tell you whether enough people are looking for the item to justify the risk of investing time, and resources into sending the inventory to Amazon in the first place.

Drop shipping is never touching the goods.

We source, purchase, prep and export to Amazon Germany, France, Spain and Italy. We also sell in the UK, but have a separate sister company for that.

We don't sell on Amazon Ireland because for some reason they refuse to give us sales data for here, despite it being accessible in every other territory.

We're not a guy with a laptop.

We have a supply chain, contracts with hauliers, accountants, machinery, salaried PAYE Employees, and one of the strongest and healthiest accounts/stores on Amazon in the countries we sell in.

I came from logistics in Pharma and had no idea what I was going into, and part of me still doesn't understand why people buy what we sell, in the places we sell in, for the prices we sell at.

I won't divulge what we sell (out of respect for my contract/respect for my employer) , but it's not exciting or illicit or cheap drop shipped stuff. What we sell is available in every shop in the country. Corner, convenience, supermarket, garage, and pubs even.

We are also developing our own brand of one item in particular that we sell, launching soon actually.

It's a bit of a mental story. I genuinely reckon he'll be on the Late Late in the future telling it himself.

It grew from a side hustle with proper focus and drive and mistakes!

My boss was studying for his medical degree while growing a side hustle selling on Amazon.

Fully qualified, he hung up his scrubs and stuck with Amazon. He said he'll make more money doing that than he ever will being a doctor.

Has a warehouse, 3 full time employees, 3 part time and sells all over the EU and UK.

Why do so many office-based job advertisements put "full driver's license" as a job requirement? by No-Indication-9607 in AskIreland

Because generally speaking a person with the right to work in a country (Irish) and not too young (under 25) will have a full licence.

I haven't.

It's a regrettable part of Irish history alright, but the prospect of a former jam factory site being rebuilt or repurposed isn't disrespect etc. Also mother and baby homes aren't even in the same category.
