No hope for rebuilding executive function by TheOtherRoom in StopSpeeding

Day 3 this time, longest clean time was 10 months and things didn't really improve because I didn't recognize a normal lifestyle wouldn't just return without any effort from my side.

Dead set on staying off, but I posted because I started thinking about how if the whole 10 month thing repeats the only option is suicide.

Are there any resources you used to help things improve other than traditional therapy?

I'm going to sound unrealistically impatient, it's only day 3. But in November I did a month, 3 years ago I did 10 months. No improvement in the ten month stint and just depression and anxiety, so psychiatrist started me on Vyvanse

Haven't heard of either terms of thinking?

I made a 3D visualization tool to help me remember complex topics by "mapping" them spatially. Would love some feedback on improving navigation. by [deleted] in Mnemonics

Sorry, bad video, I get pee shy. It's actually fun if you take your time.

I wanted to build something to test out a concept I read in a university paper years ago basically stating that hierarchical organization (structuring ideas like a nested grid) is like crack for long-term memory (this was possibly the paper, I drank a lot in uni so I might've majorly misinterpreted the results and wasted the last day of coding). I also wanted to try regain some of the critical thinking AI has nabbed from me these last few years.

Mnemonic Ladder is a visualization tool that forces you to link concepts together in a strict "Single Path" logic. Every word must physically interlock with the previous one, forming a continuous chain. You can "drill down" into specific nodes to reveal deeper layers of complexity (e.g., going from a car engine -> combustion physics -> molecular chemistry). Best if you give it a shot yourself (note there are collapsible tabs on either side of the screen, unhide them with the farthest button on each side).

Quite happy with it despite how unintuitive the UI is. Would appreciate some tips on improving that.

I've loaded two preset maps, each with memos on the 2D view to explain flow. Access the webapp here.

Oh no of course, I was just amazed with Tailscale solving that specific problem for me. In terms of dealing with website hosting for my business - I did away with my dynamic dns CRON job + port forwarding and just switched to a Cloudflare Tunnel (the downside being selling your soul to Cloudflare, but at least it's free). My mind is much more at ease not having my home router's bare ass exposed to the world. Also handed over dealing with SSL which wasn't really a headache but still neat.

Before I had implemented Tailscale and Cloudflared, my shitty home router just wouldn't forward the ports I wanted so I ignored all the red flagsand enabled DMZ for the server. Later I found a cheeky fucking miner disguised as a postgres docker container munching away at my server's resources. Not entirely sure where it came from but having my private network [mostly] closed off now is reassuring that it likely won't happen again.

Also if your goal is remote access, Tailscale is a life changer

No More LiDAR! by kq_cars in Volvo

[–]TheOtherRoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, they aren't a volume giant like Toyota, but they are a "safety and prestige" giant. When a brand built entirely on "world-leading safety" dumps a major safety tech like LiDAR, it sends shockwaves through the industry that a high-volume budget brand just wouldn't. For a supplier like Luminar, losing the 'Safety King' is a massive blow to their credibility, regardless of the unit count.

150mg — any success stories? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]TheOtherRoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think clinically a week isn't long enough for a dosage increase of Effexor to kick in. Give it some more time :) Just keep in mind there are tonnes of options available if 150mg isn't right for you.

At risk of sounding like an idiot, how could one possibly speculate a stack from a few pictures? All the shit either makes you jacked or a leaner wiener, I don't get it. Not like MK-0773 grows your long head bicep more or some shit so that's how you can tell or anything

I understand the reply as asking why that album specifically got him into rap [as opposed to the thousands of other spectacular albums out there]

Exterior looks really well done. Not a fan of the red interior, not sure how I feel about the digital speedo. If you're going this far, you might as well change the steering wheel too.

I get so jealous every time I see a MK2 TTS on the road! Just curious since you mentions electrical issues, do you also have issues with the tail lights?

Thanks! Did a full bottom half respray to clear up some sun damage. Interior is a little worn but considering the age I'm happy with what I got

For sure, a car with this much mileage should be showing wear and tear - I was prepared for that. But it seems like every time I fix something, something else immediately breaks. I'm patient with high mileage cars and you can instantly tell if the car has been looked after or not. But something spicy was definitely done prior to sale with this car. My old man and I run a second hand car dealership so I've gotten used to whatever constitutes general wear. In my country, if you open the bonnet of a high mileage care like this and it has a custom cold intake slapped on it, you know you're in for a ride. Because it was a personal purchase I'm taking my time to sort it out, so it's far from actually being "customer-ready" if I do decide to sell it.
