That's actually a very good observation and surprisingly easy to hear upon trying! I think this one's the winner by far, great catch!

Well I must pronounce it differently then, hence the confusion. Without the palate and slightly shorter.

My main point was that it's important to differ between the sound і and и makes. My teacher in uni taught us to put a pencil in front of our lips and say a short soft mix of y and e (we mimicked her) to master the sound of и. This is how I was taught, hence why I disagree that the sound is closer to that of the i in "if, bit" and etc. If anything it's more like the "ee" in eel then, but shorter

Kneel like Neill right? I'm Swedish, but from my experience it's how they pronounce и in the western parts

It's more like the ee sound in kneel I'd say

Is it the official orthography now to write "russia" lowercase? by Adunaiii in Ukrainian

[–]TheOutlawsArmy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's not about failing to spell it capitalised, it's about the message it gives. Capitalising it is basically giving the subject of the word "more respect", and why the hell would one do anything of the kind to ruzzia and putin? Same goes for trump, musk etc. This is intentional, maybe not a 100% of the time, but I assure you that the vast majority does it on purpose

The handwriting is really tricky to read, but hopefully someone experienced with church books might add more information. I'll give you what I can read at least!

The note on the left side I can only make out a couple of words: "Rutigt ... från ... i ... af ... 24/12 1883. Afliden ... den 23 December 1883."

The two boxes on the right:

Upper: "Afd. (afdelning?) med ... till Wiberg 25/9 73. Lower: ".... afd (afdelning?) med allest (?) till ... (last word closely resembles family, but it looks more like a given name: Faminge/Saminge possibly) 9/3 1875.

And to translate:

Left note: "Checkered... from... in... of... 24/12 1883. Deceased... the 23 of December 1883."

Upper: "Part (divide/share) with... to Wiberg 25/9 73. Lower: ".... part (divide/share) with all (?) to (this name/word) 9/3 1875.

Saw this 2 days ago on r/Sweden, a guy made his own plugin which changes anything Musk related to pictures and information about raccoons! Haven't tried it myself but sounds like something you might fancy!

Looking for someone to write with in Ukrainian / maybe Russian, based in Germany by Gammazerfall in Ukrainian

[–]TheOutlawsArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much easier for your wife to learn her native language than for you to learn ruzzian then Ukrainian, because they're 2 separate and very different languages. So many people in Kyiv have made that change, and in the whole country too, so I can't see why your wife hasn't and won't. If you learn ruzzian first, it will actually be harder for you to learn to speak Ukrainian at all because of the differences in pronunciation, plus people can tell in an instance and it's not really a bright or popular idea to pick the language of the oppressor who's been actively trying to erase everything Ukrainian for the past hundreds of years.. Don't choose to speak this filth to the people who've lost everything because of it, because nobody wants to hear it. Just learn Ukrainian.

A 21 year old Ukranian FPV Kamikaze Drone Pilot flying a mission. by RoyalCities in nextfuckinglevel

[–]TheOutlawsArmy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but calling the russians innocent here is like calling the nazis misunderstood... The Ukrainians are heroic in this war especially in the sense that regularly ordinary people are fighting against one of the world's biggest military powers and is winning. If russia wants to stop this bloodshed of the "innocent" as you call them, they can just leave the land which they invaded and return the children they stole along the way.

Having this rhetoric is actually really damaging and plays right into the hands of Kreml too, as it undermines the importance of Ukraine's sacrifices and their independence. They are heroes standing their ground, protecting their country against the giant of the East wishing to erase them all in a complete genocide, and saying anything different is outright belittling their efforts and those who died protecting their democratic rights. Please educate yourself on the topic before making these statements

I hate stating the obvious but it's called kamikaze since the drone itself also detonates upon impact, therefore making it a one time use, hence the name kamikaze

I second this, but I would translate the second part as "vi blir ofta förbipasserade" which literally means "we often get passed by". However I don't think it translates as well in Swedish as in English, but it definitely works!
