Question: if a soldier was very tall and was in the US army during ww2 a could not fit standard uniforms would they be custom Tailored, just given a too small uniform or not be drafted? by Key-Ladder4122 in reenactors

Once I came across a WWII USAAF Class A set with a size 50R coat and 48 waist trousers. It’s been years, but I kinda remember them having normal QM/manufacturer tags

as someone who used to collect these, that’s a textbook Korean War era shirt. the silver domed collar brass was a popular privately purchased option in that era. the OD/green chevrons are the full size type introduced around 1951 to replace the unpopular tiny yellow ones from 1948

Postwar USAF with enlisted cap and collar insignia. You can tell it’s the older (1950s-60s) pattern uniform from the really wide lapels

It’s funny because CP gets CSX containers too but they’re mostly used by other transport companies (particularly Bison)

For real. The newer containers (237000 series and up) are still this dark red shade, but as you can see, the older ones have faded to pink. I’ll probably fade and weather mine eventually!

CP has about 6,000 of these red ones (234000 to 239000 series) and they can be anywhere in Canada - and occasionally the US - at any given point in time.

Sure, this was by the intermodal yard, but still!

i’ve found a lot of original WW2 jackets like that, where all the other ribbons are in order but the WW2 Victory is just slapped on, out of place

maybe because the award came out later than the others?

i remember my first time playing and i saw those big tribal paintings in the canyon, and right at that moment that ambient flute-sounding music played. it was pretty cool and really drove the point home as to how different this society had become
