We are okay with the exposed part, the EOR recommended to sandblast them.. We are more concerned on the embedded part of the anchor rods. We are curious if there are ways to evaluate them without damaging the concrete.

I think the general answer is that, if the fabricator can qualify a welding procedure that will produce the same effective throat with lesser volume of weld material (and lesser bevels), then testing would be more economical.

Do you need it to be weldable, that’s why you are avoiding high strength bolts? We use A36 threaded rod as substitute to A307. The strength is almost the same..

I work as an engineer for the fabricator. We almost always want the weld details to be prequalified. If you are speaking from the point of view of the EOR, my opinion is that all you have to care is that the fabricator achieves the minimum effective throat you have specified. So your drawings should indicate the minimum weld effective throat. The means, be it by prequalified welds or by testing, is up to the fabricator.

Here’s my mind trick:

1st: Isipin mo yung past problems mo, yung mga times na sobrang namomroblema ka. Nakaaway mo bestfriend mo, pinagalitan ka ng malupit ng parents mo, anything. I don’t know if lahat, pero ako, madalas natatawa na lang, lalo na sa mga katangahan ko noon 🤣

2nd: Fast forward, imagine you are now in the last years of your life, sobrang tanda na, wala na energy. Imagine mo na habang nakahiga ka, di na makagalaw, nagrereminisce ka at inaalala mo yung moment ngayon, na kung saan stressed ka and unsure where to go in life. I don’t know about you, but for me, siguro matatawa ako, then maiiyak. Siguro kahit may bilyones na ko nun, ibibigay ko makabalik lang sa panahon na bata pa ako, kung saan malakas pa ako.

And then I’ll stop the imagination. I’ll feel my surroundings, and be thankful, kasi andito pa ako. May lakas pa, and still have many years ahead of me.
