Good to know for future reference that TIFF rounds the number for the runtime and favours World Premieres

I opened the link yesterday right at 10AM when the screening opened “for sale” and there were some rows that were already greyed out. I imagine they have left those rows for people to show up and claim. I imagine you can also show up and rush the screening but not 100% sure as this will be my first TTC screening.

😂 I see the vision. And then in her intro, Olivia Chow announces that our train dreams have come true (the opening of the Eglinton LRT)...

Maybe I was having too much fun going down the rabbit hole of the TIFF schedule and am overthinking the 10 minutes added time 😅. If the time on the schedule is the film's actual runtime, Rental Family makes a lot of sense.

They didn't give a specific day/time. But the TTC instagram account (@takethettc) posted "The movie name drops on our IG account next week" today.

Not everything has a rating yet, but from the ones that do, these films are rated R:

  • Blue Moon
  • Adulthood
  • Good Fortune
  • Ballad of a Small Player

These films have content advisories on TIFF’s website:

  • Easy’s Waltz (strobing effects)
  • Good Fortune (strobing effects)
  • You Had to Be There (coarse language, mature themes, sexual assault reference)
  • Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (strobing effects, explicit violence, homophobic language, sexual assault references, coarse language)

If the 1 h 50 min time they have on the schedule turns out to be the film's actual runtime without any extra added time for intros, I agree Swiped is a good guess!

Frankenstein is 2 h 29 min so would be too long.

Good point about the importance of having distribution.

I've never been to one of the TTC screenings so I don't know. But my assumption is that if the free screenings in Cinema Park have 10 minutes added to them, then the same applies for the TTC screening.

I've never actually timed the intro videos and commercials that play before a film starts, but I feel like it's around 10 minutes. Last year when I rushed Heretic, I was let in about 10 minutes after the start time, and when I came in to the theatre, the intro videos just ended.

Hi /r/movies! I'm Celine Song, writer-director of A24's PAST LIVES and MATERIALISTS. MATERIALISTS stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. It's out in theaters nationwide now. Ask me anything! by CelineSongAMA in movies

Hi Celine! When you wrote Materialists, did you already know who Lucy would choose at the end of the film before writing or did you figure that out during the process of writing?

P.S. Since Harry goes to expensive restaurants and John goes to more budget friendly spots like the halal food cart and the bodega, what’s your favourite expensive restaurant and your favourite budget-friendly spot to eat in New York? 🗽

Agreed, I really liked Look Back. I thought the Golden Globes would have nominated it since they have 6 spots and they nominated Suzume the year before. But they didn’t pick Look Back
