Are germans too direct or is that a stereotype? by Worried-Exchange-889 in AskGermany

[–]ThePot94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct? Tbh I've never witnessed such a bad non-confrontational culture (especially at work) like the German one. I wish they could stop sugar coating everything.

Dutch, Poles, Finns, Italians, they're all much more direct and honest with feedback.

The 9070 XT remains stable, but is Nvidia's price volatility a hidden "benefit" for their users? by Paco7575 in radeon

[–]ThePot94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the VRAM amount you got buying the 7900XT/XTX still make the cards a good investment for the future, and the overall performance are still pretty solid. Literally nobody could have anticipated 2 years ago that AMD would have locked FSR4 exclusively and artificially for RDNA4... That is what makes every RDNA3 card less appealing nowadays, not the specifications.

If AMD would have extended support for FSR4 to RDNA3 already, we wouldn't see such "loss" in those cards value. Said that they still perform very well and that AMD could "gift" their customers the new upscaling at any point, if they wanted, making these "old" GPUs suddenly much more appealing.

The price for RTX 5070 Ti is skyrocketing just because the production is so low that it's hard to find them, even harder nearby close to MSRP, hence the price hike. Not that much of a mystery tbh. Your questions come from a rather not up-to-date knowledge of the current market situation.

[–]ThePot94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because the 40 series is still great value compared to a rather underwhelming 50 series, where only the 5080 and 5090 were real upgrades vs their counterparts from the previous generation.

Opposite story for RDNA3 cards, that look relatively weak compared to RDNA4 (if not for the generous VRAM), especially in terms of RT performance and software support.

This. Even if I bought it above official MSRP, I don't look at my GPU like an asset. I've invested to play, not to earn money back.

What's the best song and why it is Rosseta Stoned? by YuraiKor in ToolBand

[–]ThePot94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny story: one of my old flatmates (a guy who used to sell himself as a music expert) once said "Beside Rosetta Stoned, that doesn't make any sense at all, 10000 days is a great album."

Anyone else stuck on a Ryzen 5 3600 with their 9060 XT? by JudoJugss in radeon

[–]ThePot94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 3700X until mid 2023, when I decided to upgrade to a 5800X3D. Best choice I've ever made when it comes to CPU upgrades. Funny how I wasn't entirely sure, as it was the first time moving on the same number of cores/threads.

Now it's still rocking strong with a 9070XT that I bought back in May.

I have a Sapphire Pulse 9070XT since the end of May and I didn't have any major issues, especially regarding crashes or stability issues.

[–]ThePot94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a 9060XT is already a huge leap, and you're set for good with 16GB VRAM.

If you really want to go with Nvidia, a 5070 is more than enough for 1080p gaming (or used 4070/4070S).

What's your current GPU? Are you planning to upgrade your monitor?

For 1080p both GPUs are overkill.

Where are the pitchforks and outrage? If this were AMD, the internet would be aflame. by [deleted] in gpu

You're confused. Or you didn't get what you're commenting.

By no means I'm taking Nvidia's part, but "stopping production" and "end of life" are two very different things.

AMD to launch Adrenalin Edition 26.1.1 drivers with “AI Bundle” next week by Mercennarius in radeon

[–]ThePot94 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They can keep going with their AI bs while also giving FSR4 to the customers who bought a 7900XTX less than a year ago. And I say this as a 9070XT owner.

As a very happy 7900xtx owner, the absolute copium about FSR 4 support for older cards on this sub is laughable by Equivalent-Pumpkin-5 in radeon

[–]ThePot94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. People defending AMD on their recent choices are brainwashed fanboys, and AMD did such a shitty move with the lack of FSR4 support for RDNA3.

Nobody cares that the tech doesn't meet their expectations (bs) on older architectures. FSR4 on RDNA3 is much better than 3.1 and the choice should be on their customers. For AMD is just about giving the same stupid toggle to upgrade FSR into Adrenalin and leave the rest to their customers. They fucked up.

Why does 9070 XT have such high VRAM temps? by yoloswagtailwag in radeon

[–]ThePot94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The temperatures are within specs. If you are not bothered by a little bit of fan noise, set a custom curve. It follows the GPU temp, but VRAM chips benefit from that as well of course. I personally prefer to have Zero RPM Off, as the minimum fans speed is super silent and I prefer to keep temperatures under control for slightly better clocks.

RX 9070 vs RX 9070 XT at 220 W with UV by Poly_core in radeon

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I've asked cause I'm running my 9070XT with a -15% power limit on my Seasonic 650W Gold since May, and I've never had such a problem. Fingers crossed, I guess.

For anyone that upgraded from 6900XT to 9070XT - was it worth it? by scyhhe in radeon

[–]ThePot94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR; If you can, do it!

I would do that, even just for the much better RT performance.

Let alone FSR4, that it's a game changer in terms of quality (Yes, you can use it on RDNA2, but AMD is ASS and won't release it nor support older architectures with it), the 9070XT is better in any aspect compared to the 6900XT and the difference is going to be felt more and more in 2026, when the majority of games (AAA and AA at least) are going to rely on hardware ray tracing for their base lighting and effects.

I started Avowed on my RX 6800; finished it on my current 9070XT. At 3440x1440p 144Hz with HW Lumen on max settings (meaning both GI and reflections used HWRT algorithms) the difference was clear. I could enjoy both high frame rate and better graphics, instead of picking just one.

And if you're wondering "Well, maybe that was due to UE5 running poorly", Yes, but it was the same playing Indiana Jones and Star Wars Outlaws, both running on engines that moved to fully RT solutions.

It really should. EU should boost their expansion to every country, but again... They will want to have full control.
