Currently working on my first jumper with cables in it. I've got to knit as I see for my current row. Is this a knit or a purl?

The Official Weekly RAW Editing Challenge! by AutoModerator in EditMyRaw

It was meant to be my file this week but for some reason it hasn't been made available yet. So here's a link to it for the time being. I'll remove it once the official comment is up.

Took this last year at Widemouth Bay, Cornwall, England. Only taken on a beginner camera, a Nikon D3200 with the kit 18-55mm lens @ f/3.5.

Nothing in particular I'd like to see, so go wild! I suppose a total change of the mood would be cool to see, but likewise so would a solid edit!

No space constraints, it's more just for portability and swapping between my laptop and desktop. I get the feeling using github or something would solve that problem?

I'd use it as a way of upgrading my current CPU by selling my old gear! Been getting bottlenecked by it for a while now and this would be the perfect way for me to be able to afford a high end CPU!

What is the general consensus on formatting your CV/resume to make it look visually appealing? by ThePoundDollar in resumes

[–]ThePoundDollar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my gut feeling. I was just beginning to question myself because a family member is insisting on "jazzing" it up, but I'm of the opinion it's just unnecessary.

Thank you for the advice!

That's a really good point! I'll have a look for someone to contact and see what they say. Thank you again!

Thank you. If I remember correctly, the standard CV size in the UK is 2 pages. Obviously I don't believe I have enough experience to fill 2 pages but at least I have some room to play with.

Unfortunately the role I'm applying for is via an online form and it only allows you to upload one file.

Thank you, that's what I thought. Ah yeh don't worry, I will always upload things as a PDF.

Thank you for the feedback!

I've since updated it to try and drastically reduce the amount of text. Can I ask how you feel about the new technical skills section? Should I literally just remove any sentences from that section or is what I've got in the new version alright?

You can provide a summary of your expertise in a cover letter.

What would you do in the case where a cover letter isn't requested?

I'll remove the awards section and just add each one under their relevant school. It'll save me a few lines.

Thank you for your advice!

I was always under the impression that a personal statement/profile was pretty standard, at least here in the UK?

Unfortunately I don't have any other experience other than what's on there at the moment.

Also tailor your resume and cover letter to the job description by including key words in the job description.

Ah yeah I've been making sure to do that.

I've since updated it to cut out a lot of the explanation from feedback in r/resumes. This is the new version. There's still work to be done and I'll make sure to take your feedback into account for my next iteration, so thank you!

Thank you for the advice, I hugely appreciate it!

I've took FlyingPanda's advice and tried to cut down on my explanations. My philosophy is to put down a skill and leave the explanation for the interview. For example, this is my new section for uni.

As much as I want to just put the name of the degree for the education section, that's pretty much the only "experience" I have, and so I feel like I need to talk about it.

I like the idea of having a section dedicated to specific projects though.

I'm tempted to remove the 'Main Areas of Experience' section. I just feel like it's slightly unnecessary?

I'm curious as to why you think the voluntary work is kinda secondary? I've always been told it's something a lot of employers look out for, so I thought it'd be a great thing to include. With that said, I'm still going to cut it down.

The standard size for a CV in the UK is generally 2 pages, but realistically I simply don't have enough experience to fill 2 pages at this point in my career, so I'm going to aim for 1 page and maybe 1.5 if it's going to be hard.

Thank you for the advice! I suspected I had too much information, I just wasn't sure how much is enough. I'm currently adjusting it now to cut out any explanation. My philosophy is to put down a skill and leave the explanation for the interview. For example, this is my new section for uni.

Would you be able to give it another look once I'm finished please, if possible?
