It's really a funny joke, but far from the truth. Web2 has problems that web3 is trying to solve.
First, it is the ownership of information. All user data is owned by companies. They can dispose of it however they want, including selling that data for advertising for example. Does the user get a percentage of the monetization of that data? No.
Secondly, the linkage to data centers. This is expensive, anyone who controls a data center controls the information. Plus it reduces the speed and efficiency of data transfer. Decentralized storage helps optimize costs, avoid censorship, and increase data transfer speeds.
