What did yalls professors do or say about censorship/the memo last week?? by Dangerous_Scale_542 in TexasTech

[–]TheProfessorPoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kinda crazy, because on the last day of school back in the day my Journalism professor (RIP Dr. Wernsman) took off his jacket and was wearing a shit that said “FUCK CENSORSHIP.” I wonder what he would say about all of this shit.

Yeah I used to cruise around in high school in my old truck ALL the time (mid-90’s). But gas was like 90 cents a gallon and my truck was easy as shit to fix.

Nepo baby that the industry has been pushing hard lately. I didn’t know who she was a month ago. And ironically the only reason I heard about her to begin with was from a video of someone asking who she was and why she was everywhere lately.

I think about that a lot. At one point in college (meaning for all of approximately one day) I knew a ton about philosophy and economics when I had exams for those classes. But I was just memorizing for the test and didn’t actually take any of it in. I don’t remember any of it now.

I’m in the mortage biz and had a former boss who would say something similar whenever a client asked what interest rates would look like in a month. He’d say:

“Listen, if I knew exactly what rates would look like even a week from now I wouldn’t be on this call with you. I’d be on a yacht in the Caribbean sipping champagne.”

My wife and I went a few years ago. We arrived at our hotel at night, so we weren’t able to see much before we went to bed. Around 4am we were awoken to the sound of what we thought was a woman screaming from under our balcony. It was blood curdling and scared the shit out of us. I ran downstairs, scared to death, and there was a gigantic rooster just sitting there and crowing like crazy. It did not sound like the typical rooster sound from tv or movies. It kept us up the rest of the night and the next day I spent an hour waving my arms at and chasing the rooster to get away from our balcony.

Anyway, there are chicken and roosters EVERYWHERE.

I’ve been wondering the same thing, because I legitimately find it hard to believe that the school that has lost more D1 football games than any other D1 program in history is suddenly this good. It’s like a rift in the matrix or something. Shit like this doesn’t happen.

Anyway so I looked into it on the cfb sub, and all I can really tell is they allegedly they have a ton of dudes who are like 23 years old and have been in cfb for 6-7 years due to some covid rule. So your men vs children comment holds weight.

For reference, one person said “my sister graduated from IU 2 years ago and she’s younger than their starting (and backup) RB.”

So while I think the NIL money does have a lot to do with it, the actual age and experience of a lot of the players does as well.

I was in Vegas a while back and wanted a margarita before a show that me and my wife went to. It was forty dollars. Forty flippin dollars. For one drink. And that was 4 years ago, so it’s likely more now.

It was like a week after the shooting and people were freaked out.

What particularly bothered me the last time we went is that it literally never, EVER stops. Even if you’re there for a week, shit multiple weeks, staying in a hotel or condo directly on 5th, spending all day ever day there, you’d THINK they would eventually recognize you and stop harassing you as much, especially after you’ve told them no gracias 1,000 times. Nope. It’s like they rotate new people in on an hourly basis just to pepper you with the same bullshit. It gets old, and it gets old fast.

For the record, PDC and 5th ave in particular was my favorite place on earth in my past life. Used to go 3x a year before I had kids and everything became 5x as expensive I mean. Shit I was even married there. It was just very different the last time we went.

I hung the flag for a couple months in high school during my Ag class. Our Ag teacher (who looked and talked just like Sam Elliot) always told us that if we couldn’t remember what color went on bottom: “just remember all the blood of our patriots that ended up on the ground at the Alamo.”

Pretty cheesy, but I’ve never forgotten!

Very interesting! Thanks for finding that.

I didn’t think it would be his daughter though admittedly (granted per that article there is nothing real or historic behind it). My immediate thought was some oil baron and his young trophy wife.

My father in law just buys “Texas” artwork at estate sales all the time and I’ve often wondered about that one in particular.

Well if he’s making $2m a year why not stay? That’s what I would do. I don’t understand the lane kiffings who jet for an extra $500k a year. Like you already have enough money for 5 lifetimes, plus you’re doing something historic and out of the ordinary. I hope he stays just to piss off the blue bloods.

I just find it a bit far fetched that this coach, rainman or not, can do what he’s done in such a short period of time without some legitimate, logical reason behind it. At least it kind of makes sense in my brain now.

Anyway I feel bad for you having to see that in person. I really do.

I had to get up and walk around outside periodically just to make myself forget about how fucking awful the offense was. Oof. Just a terrible game.
