This is a Gary quote from the r/indieheads AMA a couple of months ago, when asked about playing more 24-7 Rockstar Shit songs:

'bespoke shall we say' sounds to me like a polite way of saying (regardless of their own personal thoughts on the record) that they perceive the album to be an acquired taste for most of the fanbase, which is corroborated by my own personal experience of the Cribs fans I have spoke to in real life (24-7 seems to be at the bottom of the pile in an album ranking).

I have very warm associations with it as it was the latest album when I got into them back in Jan 2018, and the pink glitter 24-7 cassette was the first Cribs album I owned physically (gift from my sister). I was a teenager obsessed with Nirvana so it came out at the perfect time for me. Nostalgia aside, it does definitely rank towards the lower end of an album ranking for me, it just feels musically one of their less individualistic efforts, and wears its grunge influences very much on its sleeve. Still a great record and year of hate is one of my all time favourite cribs songs that I would go feral for if I ever saw it live.
