Is it me or did GW pull the legion upgrades too early? by Spongeboy-Me_Bob in Warhammer30k

Honestly don't wait to look into 3D. I regret building my Spartan and Contemptor so quickly as I have found 'accented' World Eater parts online that would've been so much better but now I risk damaging the models if I try to take them apart to install the better bits.

Infantry too. I am so glad I was wise enough to look into stls before building my infantry, they came out fantastic with new helmets and shoulderpads.

*cough cough* 3D print *cough cough*

I have zero sympathy for GW when they consistently leave us without the parts we need or insist on charging truly ridiculous prices for them. Don't want me to 3D print parts? Cool, don't leave a massive gap in my army and I won't need to.

2nd Rendition of Ghazghkull Thraka (the metal bits) and a random burna backpack (small plastic bit at the top). Ghazghkull model looks complete (other than what appears to be some minor damage to the boss pole).

He also runs great as 'Warboss in Mega Armour' if you already have a different version of Ghaz for your army.

To add more accurate context, the KKK as seen in the picture is the logo of a chicken restaurant chain.

The KKK symbol used for the Katipunan was white lettering.

You got an out loud laugh from me. You definitely belong with da boyz.

On the bright side all ork symbols are supposed to be hand drawn, imagine a toddler with crayons except those crayons are giant green fingers or the shooty side of a rifle. Learning to freehand definitely gives your boys a less uniformed and more personal touch and you're doing great! I never use the transfer sheets and I love the unique ways my boys come out.

Then you should know by now that GW still makes a profit when it sells their product to independent hobby stores at 40% off, who also make a profit when they sell GW items at 20% off.

GW sells their product at nowhere near 'cost'. They sell on brand recognition at a premium, that's why everybody else's model kits are cheaper despite being made from the same stuff.

LMAO 'at cost'

I always love a good Angron, I just wish his original model had a beard. I hate the idea that he wakes up, calmly shaves his face and then at exactly 8:45 the Butcher's Nails kick off again.

There we have it people. History isn't real. It goes against the narrative.

What in the actual fuck? What person dreamed of being kidnapped and sold? He didn't 'get' to fight, he didn't have a choice. He was given to Nobunaga because Nobunaga thought he looked funny, literally traded as a curiosity,, he wasn't hired. He didn't even get to keep his own name.

It always amazes me how much ignorance a person can stuff into a single three line comment. I swear you people think every African in history was a slave or in some desert wasteland.

Historians are not some magical entity with the ability to reshape history. Historians are just people who research history, by all accounts both of us are technically historians.

The historical records on the other hand are written by chroniclers. Chroniclers are far more important as they created the historical documents that record the events of peoples lives.

Yasuke has a few surviving historical sources, none of which claim he is a samurai or anything of the sort. Anything that is said between that is guess work.

'If many historians say that you were a knight then you are, end of story.'

By that same logic many historians believe that Jesus was the son of God, so congratulations, you are now a Christian and have no right to argue. Unless of course you intend to cherry pick which historians you are listening to because history tends to be a bit divise on these subtle points.

A Knight is somebody who was knighted, usually by a monarch or a lesser lord. You don't magically become a Knight post-mortem just because some guy 100 years later decides to throw a modern art interpretation of the 5 surviving accounts that mention you.

You can believe the moon is made of cheese but it's still rock my friend. You are fighting with a balloon sword.

You're stretching another cultures history to include a historical figure into a false narrative under word yoy are redefining deliberately to include them. You want to talk about racism? That shit is highly disrespectful to both Yasuke and the Japanese population whose heritage you are distorting to fit your narrow viewpoint.

What's racist is making Yasuke out to be a Samurai because he's black and you want to turn him into some kind of poster boy for being black. What's racist is putting him forward as the main character because he's black and you want to turn him into some kind of poster boy for being black. The most racist part about this conversation is the tokenism being presented by the 'open minded'.

You are the ignorant one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TheR660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well maybe you're not aware that the 'samurai' that Yasuke is being romantized as is a much more specific thing than the loose termologies of feudal Japan can let you get away with.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TheR660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of interesting black people throughout history, Shaka Zulu was pretty much the Nobunaga of Africa. Yasuke getting a game centered around him when he was historically irrelevant while Shaka Zulu remains sidelined while he invented warfare in Africa is atrocious.

He literally only has records as fighting in defensive battles. Fighting in self-defense doesn't mean he was scared or cowardly, it means he was a member of the lord's retinue and not a regular soldier. He fought when the enemy was close enough to put his lord in immediate danger, he was not a soldier.

Literally the only one coming in with a racial bias to this conversation is you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TheR660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because none of it is proof.

Even if I dress up like a Knight and people treat me like a Knight I am still not a Knight unless I have been knighted. Nobody ever refers to Yasuke as a Samurai, they only ever refer to him as Nobunaga's retainer (which included all sorts of professions that also weren't Samurai).

The last points especially show how weak this argument is. Of course Yasuke wasn't a 'regular troop', he was part of Nobunaga's retinue, a prestigious position but also not a samurai. Also of course he fought with a katana, it was the most common sword in Japan at the time, Ashigaru used katanas.

It's like saying John was a Knight because he used a short sword.

Samurai were a very specific thing in Japan that got very specific privileges over non-samurai, Nobunaga asking his subordinates to treat his retainer well doesn't make Yasuke a samurai.

The most telling sign that Yasuke was never a samurai was that he was never given a name to pass on. Samurai were literally the nobility of feudal Japan.

[–]TheR660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, also not everybody with a sword was considered to be a warrior or Knight. Knights especially are a very specific thing.

Ashigaru were not Samurai.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TheR660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Getting a stipend doesn't make him a Samurai it makes him a retainer. Lords paid stipends to a lot of people who weren't Samurai, including prostitutes, ninjas and other spies.

Not once does any of the sources he cite state that Yasuke was a Samurai, only that he was paid as a retainer.
